The paper today said that an estimated 4000-8000 people in the Netherlands are going to die from the swine flu. Their also promoting the use of masks, wich makes me instantly believe its another scare tactic.

Untill people actually start dying around here im going to file that prediction with the one about nuclear bombs igniting the atmosphere.

Swine Flu: 6 month mark - 144 dead.
"Vanilla" flu: 12 months - 500,000 dead worldwide.
Spanish Flu: 1918-1920 - 50-100 million dead worldwide, 500 million (1/3 of global population at time) infected. A real pandemic.
Swine Flu is Spanish Flu.

Damn, what a shame that our healthcare hasn't advanced and that we're still fighting a disasterous war.

Yup, we're doomed.

WAIT! I sneezed while I was typing this. I guess I'd better go die now.

I might be wrong, but I think our health care and sanitization techniques have improved since 1918. Just a thought.

And yet I still don't care. I think the part of me that used to panic about this sort of thing is dead.
Thats true, I dont care at all. Even if I got it I would be like "I still dont care" I dont care about most things these days anyway so meh.
Don't you know the story of the boy who cried wolf? It has something to do with apathy and scaremongering but all I know is that if you ignore these things, a wolf mauls you.

It's near my home town and to be honest I don't care. It doesn't kill you, as shown by many of people, it just killed the mexicans because it formed with other viruses so we are all okay!

This isn't really the same thing. The boy who cried wolf's moral is not to make people believe you're in any kind of trouble for your own humour because if it turns out you are, they won't believe you. This is just someone who doesn't care about something.

I know how you feel. Nothing much bothers me nowadays.

Already? Fuck, Toronto got hit extremely hard by the virus.

Two of my friends have it :(
For whatever reason, it doesn't seem to affect Canadians very much.
People in Mexico die. We get a cough for a few days.

This is fail. not the thread, but the WHO. It's only a pandemic because it's everywhere, nevermind the fact that it's not deadly unless you've had a cold or AIDs before you got the "Swine Flu" There was an article in the washington times

Oh good. My world domination plan is succeeding. I lure you all into a false sense of security and then...BOOM!! I release THE deadly strain of the virus. All will bow before me! MUH-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Well, anyone with a basic grasp of vaccination theory can tell you that's bullpucky. If the only difference between the "false sense of security" strain and the "murder death kill rampage" strain, is symptom intensity, then they'll be similar enough so that your "false sense of security" strain acts as a vaccine. Edward Jenner's first vaccine worked the same way. If you're releasing the F.S.o.S.S., then the world should thank you as its fuzzing saviour.
Dude, I was being sarcastic. You didn't have to give me an educated retalitory answer. It was a joke.

Its a pandemic but no one gives a shit because its relatively harmless unless you are REALLY sick. Besides, if the worst comes to the worst, we can always nuke Mexico just as a retaliation. LOLZ only joking

The World Health Organization has declared the first global flu epidemic in 41 years. Apparently it wasn't a false alarm. Go figure.
Look at the death rates.

It is a false alarm.
