Personally - I don't think It's balances; most of the time whoever see's the other guy first get's the kill.

Unless you're a soldier - then you just click mouse 1 and crits fly out everywhere while you scream DUUUUUUURRRR and kill the spy who was carefully planned behind you.

I think it's the fact that it's so incredibly well balanced?..
Tell that to the engineer in my first game that had a pistol that could kill me before I could turn round to even see him.

I'm gonna be honest. I'm trying, but I fucking hate this game. Everyone else has far better weapons.
Go scout or something and just attack him? Really, it's just you. :p

If all else fails, go for the pyro, it's the class that noobs use for cheap kills, haha.
As a dedicated defense Pyro, I don't really think it's fair to say that it is a noob class. I will admit that it is a class that seems infested by back-burning failboat retards... but it's not really a 'cheap kill' button either. A Pyro is no harder to kill than any other, and the only people that really have the right to rage about them are spies. On the flip side of that though, imagine how bad spies would be without anyone spy checking. A good pyro though is hardly noobish. Putting people out who on fire, blowing back ubers, and deflecting rockets are things listed on a good pyro's resume. My favorite thing to do by far though is defending a turret under assault by an uber soldier. Oh the rage when they blow an uber because I stood in front of the turret and air blasted all their rockets away from a turret.

It's nothing like CSS.

And besides Payload is the worst gametype for me, other than CTF. Can someone please tell me why Goldrush is the most popular map ever?
I agree that Goldrush was designed upside-down, but Badwater plays fine.

OP, you can't judge the whole game by one gametype. You probably thought the pyro was overpowered because you just stood by the cart. I personally prefer A/D and 5 point CP, spies get more of the action there.

TF2 is a good game because it's amazingly balanced, doesn't ask too much of your computer to run, and is continually supported. And there's the teamwork that is central to it all. My favourite class is medic because I help the team effort, and he still gets his piece of the action (saw-ry if you don't believe me). Perhaps you could have a shot at medic, healing all the soldiers.

And what exactly did you do in those two hours?
As to why it's so great? I'll just let everyone else explain for me.
In song!

The game is well-balanced, the art style is awesomesauce, the characters and their "Meet the..." videos are hilarious and add enormous amounts of personality to the game, the game is massive amounts of fun, the weapons are different, but all fun to use, and as you gradually, with time, get new weapons and hats etc, you have something to strive for. Also, many classes, and playing with any of them is a different experience from the last.

Basically like CSS, which is already a lot of fun, but just much funnier, with more personality, wackier weapons, which have much more variety between them, in my opinion better map design, the characters have voice-acting, which is great, and a more beautiful and personality-laden artstyle, along with multiple classes.

I, personally, absolutely love it. One of my all-time favorite multiplayer FPSs (included the multiplayer parts of single-player FPSs).

TF2 is great why?

Every class is important. A team of all 1 class, or two classes will suck

Team is important. One of the few games where having mediocre players who play as a team are better than good players who solo the whole time.

Great artwork.

Great comedy.

Tons of support and updates.

Easy to pick up and play, hard to master. Newbies do do worse than good players, but there isn't a massive learning curve to get playing reasonably well. Yet, the game is not easy, every class has their own quirks that take a long time to learn/discover/master.

Alot of official maps.

Very balanced game, as said by everyone. You may end up getting pissed at the spy as a sniper, but the spy is pissed at the pyro, pyro is pissed at someone else.. it is a big circle. You need every class to win and pick at the other teams weaknesses.

Probably because it's fun, has a diverse range of classes, is updated frequently with new content for free, has a unique art style and is well balanced.

No offense, but the last true update was a couple months ago, the only proper word we've gotten of anything is the WAR! update that is happening now.

VALVe are trolls by the way.

Balanced, my arse.

yes it is balenced, what about your arse? (please learn apropriate use of commas)

OT: I freakin love tf2, if only because you can have so much fun, plus it isacctualy well balenced as long as you have some skill,if you play right you can kill every class with every other class it just takes the afformentioned skill. the pyro isn't just a class for noobs,a friend of mine loves to play as pyro but once when we were on a server together he was a scout and just raped everyone. I honestly think he just plays pyro for the fun of watching people burn.

What do you expect to see here that you didn't see in the reviews, besides biased Valve fanboys defending it, pointless arguments about whether or not the game is balanced, and fans of Team Fortress calling it dumbed down garbage?

For the record, I enjoy the game, and I believe that you have valid reasons for not liking it.
i've been wondering, speaking of freecontent do you have to buy weapons like the huntsman or the backburner? it's just something that's been naging at me
