I cannot say I really like them. I think most breeds are damn ugly (except huskies). They're also noisy and dumb. But they're loyal, which is a huge plus.
Gimme fish over a dog any day.

I love dogs, but most people don't know how to train them properly, attend obedience training, or choose a breed suitable to their own lifestyle and temperament. Unfortunately this really reflects poorly on dogs themselves, as a poorly trained dog can lead people to think that they are loud, obnoxious, and otherwise dumb animals (some can be less intelligent, but it is not an overwhelming majority).

I personally trained my current dog... she does not bark, bite, or bolt when the door is opened. She's a terrier, not a retriever, so some aspects of her training was more difficult than others, however, I did research before I got her, and knew what I had to focus on from an early age. It is really rewarding to have her obey all of my commands now, especially because I can say that I haven't laid a hand on her during the entire process. She really trusts me, which is super neat.

I love dogs, although I would have to say I like prefer dogs that are medium sized or smaller. I really want to have a pomeranian though just for their cuteness and stuff, then again after having a mini pinscher I also love them, if only they were more easy to train...

But I pretty much love dogs.

I have a dog.
He's pretty good at tricks, he doesn't have to eat much between meals, and he's good at navigating the house so I have don't have to guide him to his food bowl every-fuckin' night.

I LYEK.

As I owe my namesake to the Heberew word for dog, I must say that I far prefer them to cats and other pets, and even at times to other people.

Dogs? I love 'em as long as they aren't trying to bite or bark my face off.
As such, I tend to gravitate towards larger dogs.

You folks should find the episode of Nova titled "Dogs Decoded". It's a great episode, even if you're not into educational television. It's streamable on Netflix if you have it.
Here's an interesting fact from it: Owning a dog decreases your chance of having a heart attack, and if a dog owner has a heart attack, they're several times more likely to survive it than someone who doesn't own a dog.

Anyway, I love dogs. More accurately, I love my dog(s). She learns pretty quick, and people are surprised at the things she's learned. For example, she uses her "inside voice" when indoors, she knows a few stuffed animals by name (fox, duck, raccoon, alligator), and if her terrier nature gets the better of her and she tears something up, she'll leave the mess in a little pile.
Most other people I know can't seem to train their dog very well, or just don't keep dogs for very long (which I'll never understand). The family I got my puppy from were surprised to find I still had it a year later. I just seem to get along with dogs better than the people I know. A friend's dog had puppies once and wouldn't let his family anywhere near them without snapping and growling, but she'd let me pick them up and wag her tail.

I strongly dislike dogs. From my experience, they only master is the one that feeds them. They irritate the hell out of me when they try to show dominance and I need to crouch down and stare them down in the eye until they back off. I feel they are held in a lot higher regard then they deserve.
All this "mans best friend" and these stories of them rescuing children because they had some deep connection is all over-exaggerated or wasn't nearly as heroic as it was told.
However I could be wrong. Just my opinion.

dogs are awesome, best animal ever, wanna know why? theyre the only animal that understands the point. when we point at somthing, dogs know to look in the direction we're pointing, no other animal knows that.

minor and trivial? yes, but super awesome to me!

That's about it, I have a dog and though she's a bit thick, she's very friendly and lovable.
lol mine's the same. He's a four year old jet black german shepherd. Whatever people say about german shepherds being one of the smartest dogs, they haven't seen my Jacky. He's a little bit retarded.

They aren't called man's best friend for nothing. I love dogs, in fact there is a poodle/havanese (I don't know the spelling but it's the Cuban equivalent of the corgi) sitting next to me while I write this.

They can be trained, there's lot of variety, loyalty and they're also very soothing to play with when you're not in a good mood; picking up a tennis ball and tossing a few times helps a lot

I don't dislike dogs, but I would never own one. I don't have the patience for an animal that needs to be constantly reminded of its place in the pack. Cats better suit my temperament; they're quieter and more independent.

I hate dogs because they hate me. They never fail to turn into a barking, growling, snarling ball of rage in my presence. I was even attacked by my grandma's dog when I was a toddler. Because of it the dog had to be put down. The trauma made me scared of all dogs pretty much throughout my childhood. I've made a lot of progress with my fear, and if I could get over it I could probably even come to like dogs, but that's a way off yet.

EDIT: I love cats, though. If I had a more permanent home, I would definitely have one.

I'm quite fond of dogs and quite fond of cats. My wife and I opted to collect a few dogs and exotic cats instead of having children and we've never looked back. ;)
