i like dogs the same way i like cats and people. which is to say that as a group i despise them, but there are many individuals i rather enjoy. it all comes down to personality. a well-behaved dog who doesn't yip or evacuate on the carpet can be a real treasure.

thus, i would never own one by choice, since the odds of getting one i can't stand are far greater than getting one i like. however, if i was involved with a girl who had a dog, i'd probably put up with it for her sake, unless it was a truly awful dog.

if i were to ever go insane and buy my own dog, though, it'd be a Corgi.

The only dogs I like are the huge and lazy ones, if they don't smell. You put a yappy ankle biter around me and I just want to punt it. Regular sized energetic dogs are fine for about 5 minutes but they don't seem to understand when you don't want to play with them anymore and to leave you alone.

Since I like quiet, low maintenance pets, I'll stick with my huge fluffy cats.

Im an animal lover. I prefer bigger dogs, but I like them to be trained enough to not be unruly, but still fun. Big dogs are fun to hug. I liked my friend's German Shepard. Big, dopey, sweet and fun to hug, but was trained well enough.

Husky, German, or a sheep dog, is what I want. I hate most short haired dogs, and than bull dogs and poodles too. Other types ehh fine but I'd never get one. Most people don't like dogs because of the fur getting on everything, barking, allergies ect. And thats their choice or position forced upon them.

I want a dog when I'm living on my own, have one now and love the little thing to death. Course I have alot of problems with her because when we got her I didn't have alot of time to train her and no one else in my family could arse themselves to help. And my younger brother and sister don't walk her anymore cause they "can't be bothered" so other than me and my older brothers GF whos a vet in training does anything with her. Cept feeding which I've forced upon my mother to do so.

Depends on the dog. I have a corgi that's nice, but I have to go out of my way to take care of it opposed to the cats. The cats I just change litter for and feed. The dog? Needs walks, has to crap in the yard, barks loudly once in a blue moon, gives off a terrible breath oder and gas when excited, destroyed my blinds once trying to get at the vicious un-trained German shepherds next door, sheds something mad twice a year, etc.

But at least he has basic training and is melo most of the time.

My sister once bought a puppymill piece of shit and it was genetically messed up. Small ugly dog, but outright aggressive. Then she doesn't want it anymore because it bites her friends so dumps it on my parents. The thing had this high pitched bark and never stopped using it, piss and land-mined all over my old folk's house all the time, bit everyone and everything, and was a living nightmare. After I put it down, I forced my parents to replace their carpets immediately and even painted sealer on the baseboards to remove the terrible ammonia smell that one ***** caused.

I think after the corgi I'm not going to have any more dogs. The only reason I got the corgi was for rehabilitation from dealing with the first one. To show me that there are better dogs in existence that can be trained and wont bite. It doesn't help that the German shepherds next door also bark non-stop and attack each-other.

I love dogs, and they love me. There's a loyalty and bond there that I've not seen elsewhere, and I appreciate that immensely.

And they're less likely to stab you in the back, more likely to die to protect you. I don't know how much I can say that about people.

Dude, my dog howls on command, and if I make her howl while she has a tennis ball in her mouth, she gags on the tennis ball while she's howling. In what way could that not be awesome?

A great dog can be one of the greatest friends you can find. Unfortunately there are a large amount of not-so-great dogs, but many times this is due to bad owners. I love dogs.

I am an animal lover in general, so of course I love dogs. To me, it doesn't matter if they are intelligent or not, it's their unconditional love that matters.

I have an Akita called Bear and he is our pride and joy. Immensely intelligent, loyal and loving, and great for hugs :)

I love dogs.

When I get my own place, I want to get a German Shepard and a Saint Bernard. But that will have to wait until I have a house with a REAL backyard (At least 3 acres).

They'll fight and die for you, and thats more then can be said about a cat.

Plus I've never heard of someone weaseling a cat like you hear people weaseling dogs.

Probably a better species altogether than humans are. Perhaps I'm prejudiced: I've had the fortune to mostly own intelligent dogs-- grew up with a trained bird dog Britanny Spaniel, had German Shepherds (a thorougly misjudged breed, really sweet and loyal), currently a ridiculously intelligent Border Collie. We do agility and frisbee together; it's what keeps me sane sometimes.

Sadly, there's a lot of bad owners out there who don't even take their dog to a basic obedience class. Really, dogs will embarass you from time to time, but there's no excuse not to housebreak them and keep them under control. They LIKE guidance, and get a bit wiggy when you just let them do their own thing. That's not pack behavior. As a friend of mine who trained guide dogs for a living once put it "Dogs are easy. They want to learn. Humans, on the other hand..."
