So, what's your RPG weapon?

I'd choose a round shield (oak covered with elvish steel and dragon hide) with sharpened elvish steel around the outer edge, a human-sized dwarf-made single-handed throwing/ fighting axe, a knife made from a dragons tooth or claw (maybe one of each) and an elvish steel bastard sword with the pommel and ends of the cross guard sharpened. And I'd have all of my weapons inscribed with various wards for protection, strength, and lightning (because lightning is awesome).
I'd also have armor made from both elvish steel and dragon hide, similarly inscribed.
I might also choose an elvish re-curve bow with two quivers of elvish arrows. One quiver will have poison tipped arrows for combat, the other will be untainted and used for game hunting.

Fantasy RPG - Claymore w/ shield on back...
When I read that, I thought you meant a claymore as in those anti-personnel mines.

Comew to think of it, that would be a badass personal defense weapon, assuming the thing doesn't cause the shield itself to blow up.

A nice, stout bastard sword with a good point. Or a good halberd, depending on the situation.
Why not both? Then you're set no matter what happens!

Tommy Gun. No wait, a Magical Tommy Gun that can shoot different kinds of bullets (Fire, Lightning, Lasers, Explosives, Ice, etc) and will never require reloading.

Also, it would require dressing up as a 1920's gangster in order to function, so my enemies couldn't steal it and use it against me. Unless they also happened to be 1920's gangsters. In which case, they'd probably have their own and wouldn't need to steal mine.

Modern RPG - L85A2/L96AW

Future RPG - Warhammer... literally
Good choices! No love for the M249 SAW though?

For me:

Fantasy: My wizard hands/staff
Modern: M82 Barret .50 cal/M249 SAW/Tavor-21
Future: Energy Sword

In any future RPG I will Have to go with the RPC. No that is not a typo: ROCKET PROPELLED CHAINSAW

In a medival RPG I would use a Lance. Massive lance.

My weapon would be a bow. I'm almost always a rogue and usually an archer in games (when I have that option). Daggers seem badass...but I could never stab a guy up close and personal.

A Naginata! For that extra oriental badassery!

yeah, in fantasy rpgs i have always been a fan of pole weapons (or warhammers). if it is a sci-fi rpg like starwars, it will likely be a lazer sword or bigass power sword/hammer like in warhammer 40k dawn of war.

as for modern-ish rpgs, a minigun.

in a futuristic rpg, i would pretty much want to be this badass.
