So, who picked up the Team Ico Collection?

Bought it last night, but I haven't touched it yet. About two years ago I played Ico for about an hour and a half on a small-screen TV and I was pretty impressed with it. I haven't played SotC at all (every time I see that acronym I have to prevent my brain from seeing Symphony of the Night). I'm currently playing Silent Hill 3 for the first time, but I have to restart from one of my earlier saves (I'm completely out of health items and in a tight spot) so I may take a break to check out SotC before I continue.

I am definitely getting it this week. I never played them before and have only heard/seen good things about both games so i'm really excited to play them.

I already own (and beat) both on PS2, so I just rented it from GameFly.

It arrived last night, I watched almost all of the supplemental material. Then I beat the first colossi and decided to Keep the game.

If you're on the fence, let me quell your fears: GET IT! SotC looks utterly gorgeous in HD, better than most PS3 games if I say so myself. I thought the framerate increase would be annoying considering I thought the stuttering framerate on PS2 helped the game be that much more cinematic during intense moments, but the game definitely is better looking at a buttery smooth, 60FPS.
They're not 60fps, they're locked at 30fps.

Apart from that though, what supplemental material? I thought that was only via the download code that hasn't unlocked yet?

I did!

God, I wanted to play those two games so much since I heard about them. When I finally got a PS3 several days ago I immediately picked it up.

They're now my favourite games ever.
As someone who is playing them for the first time, how are you finding them?
They completely blew my expectations to orbit.

Maybe it's just my inadequate vocabulary, I just can't describe how good I thought SotC is; I almost couldn't think of anything bad to say about it.

And as for ICO, well... not much more to add on it since I felt exactly the same way about it as I did for SotC.

Oh no, they scared me when they were NORMAL.
They were just always staring at me, and so detailed, and they seem to never blink.
I think the scariest of all the Colossi was the Giant fish in that clear black pond.

*Shudders* Shit that was just creepy. Especially when you dove down all you could see was black abyss under the water only to be greeted with two pairs of beady eyes and an electric horn....

It's good to know that they still stand up, even to todays standards.

Well, at least we know we've got another person who will now eagerly await The Last Guardian.

Reminds me of the image I put in my "Thanks for watching" slide of my philosophy presentation explaining how Shadow of the Colossus is art.

I pre-ordered it and picked up the day it released. I played Ico first, simply because I had played both, but with Ico second, so this time I wanted to play them in the order they released. I can say with absolute certainty now that Ico is one of the greatest works of art in the history of ever. I expect my second playthrough of Shadow of the Colossus to reflect my opinion that it was even better, so I'm psyched to start that.

Also, I have "You Were There," the theme for Ico, stuck in my head. It's a stunningly beautiful song and it just won't leave...

It's a great tune, not nearly as epic as anything from SotC, but that's not a bad thing.

Ico was never about being epic.

I had to decide between God of War Origins and the Team Ico collection. Went with God of war, but I'll be snagging the TIC for xmas, most likely.

I...I was weak. The ability to slaughter entire encyclopaedias and textbooks full of Greek myths, stories, heroes, demigods, and misinterpretations of dinosaur bones and similar fossils just...calls to me. To my soul. In a way that the serene, titanic behemoths and their unrighteous murder cannot satisfy. The sheer visceral rage, the balletic devastation, that ultimate in choreography of the damned--it's just something I cannot pass up!

For my penance, I shall buy it at full price, as soon as I am able. I may not be able to wash this innocent blood from my hands, but at least I can tell them why it happened.
