this kind of makes me sad

It wasn't just the ending.

I was never a huge fan of Mass Effect to begin with. I picked ME1 and 2 up on the cheap and only got 3 to see what happened.

It was never going to be a game i'd play through the single player more than once. The multiplayer was fun for a short period but that started to bore me pretty quickly.

It's just taking far too long for them to release the extended cut DLC that I just couldn't physically bring myself to keep caring. I lost interest weeks ago so by the time the DLC comes out i'll have forgotten about the game completely.

Unless the Extended Cut come out and says, "The Indoctrination Theory was right! Here's where the game really left off, here's Shepard 'snapping out of it' and here's the real ending!" Unless that happens, I won't be holding my breath.

What?

How is the ending the least important part of a game which pretty much sold itself on the story? I would say the ending is one of the most important things in this case.
to soome people the journey is more important than the destination.
To me though, the game ended when i got shot by harbinger. We lost the war and the galaxy is fucked (which if you ask me should have been an option in the game anyway)

When I did the ending it was a case of WTF for me. I was so underwhelmed that I ended up completely over thinking what it could mean.

I was SORT OF like this: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/critical-miss/9476-Mass-Effect-3-The-Process

I ended up concluding on the fact it was a shame the series on such a retarded note.
Hell I'm thinking of replaying the series on PC now that I can and see the games how they were meant to be played since it didn't completely spoil the series for me.

The "Extended Ending DLC" is fine and whatnot, but i would rather hear news on actual DLC to come out, something that will add to the overall story itself.

The ending for me was a bit of a non-issue, i didnt hate it, i didnt love it......i do however hope that they tidy up a few things move on and then let me take back Omega!!

I'm pretty bummed about the way it ended, but I'll definitely check it out for curiosity's sake.

I said that I wouldn't buy another BW game after this, but then I saw they are working on DA3 and.....I know I'll end up buying it. I'm a weak weak man

I think the damage has been done and whatever the extended cut shows will not make a difference.
It could have helped, but the way they're pitching it you are likely correct.

It's a self defense mechanism. The person's been dissapointed enough that they wish to avoid further hurt that they think would be inevitable if they continued to care.

I'm sad to admit that I'm closer to that end than I would like.

I was interested to see what it was going to be but my feelings about ME3 have long since evaporated into nothing.

I don't even own the game anymore, got rid of it weeks ago.
I still have it, but I haven't completed it. My desire to is just gone.

Guess there's the ol' "look it up on Youtube" route, right? :I

I really could care less about the extended cut. It won't change how stupid the ending is. They are just adding scenes. No Indoctrination. Nothing else.

I haven't touched Mass Effect 3 since finishing the game and I don't plan on ever touching it again. Or buying anything else in the Mass Effect universe.

I agree wholeheartedly with the posts below...

At this point I really don't care. It's a shame. It's really the purpose of 'too little too late'. I don't think I'll even download it. It's not because I'm standing for any ideals of anything whatsoever. It's because I simply...don't care anymore.

Congratulations Bioware. You've snuffed out my interest in Mass Effect completely. Didn't think many things could do that.
thats actually the most impressive thing about the ending for me. how they managed to retroactively not only destroy my interest in my favourite game up to that point but also the trilogy

It's not impossible that they could fix the ending. Even if we can't imagine a non-retarded place they could take the series, you never really know until it's released. That said, Indoctrination Theory is an easy way to fix the series. If Bioware would take that theory, combine it with an epic Harbinger boss battle and give us the earth-shattering finale that we all wanted, I'd be satisfied.

I once heard someone on the BW forums propose an excellent (if extremely unlikely) idea. The extended cut should have a scene after the credits depicting Shephard reading an apology from the Mass Effect team for destroying the series' story in the original ending. Now, that would make me gain some of my respect back for Bioware.

It's interesting how Bioware claimed they wouldn't change the ending "out of respect for the team's artistic vision" when one of those same writers is claiming that they were forced out of the creative process.

The ending doesn't entirely destroy my interest in the ME Universe, however it has destroyed my faith in Bioware, after all I heard about Dragon Age 2 being abysmal it seems that ME3's ending was the other shoe dropping.

Meh. I think it's going to be a lackluster fanservice tacked on to the rotten appendage of the series.

ME3 had probably the strongest gameplay of the series, but the writing and storytelling was taken out back and shot. The extended cut will involve writing.

Therefore I believe that the golden goose was dead long before the ending. The whole game was a soap opera, 15 minutes of extra will not save it.

I liked the games and I didn't hate the ending. The execution was poorly done but the underlying thought was ok, even if somewhat out of place.
So screw that extended cut, unless there's blue tits in it.

I really liked the ending of Mass Effect 3. Go ahead, hate me for it.

However, not only did I enjoy the game and the ending, I thought the ending was kind of beautiful, actually.

To be honest, if they change how the ending went down I'm going to be really disappointed.

I plan on picking up the extended cut when it is released. I didn't hate the ending. It was not what I expected but I didn't hate it. I hope they do the same thing they did in DA:O and after the extra cutscenes they tell us what also happened in little text boxes.

it just bugs me that the ending destroyed the universe, i could deal with a bleak ending and didn't mind the bullshit plotholes( because that doesn't change what i did the past 3 games). What does fuck things up for me was the fact that they killed the universe with the ending, everything i fought for is irrelevant since it's gone. saved the Krogan from the Genophage? they are stranded on a nuclear wasteland. i wouldn't even have minded if the game forced to me to personally wipe out humanity to save the other races.

it just pisses me off because i really liked the gameplay but can't get myself to replay it.

oh and artistic integrity my ass, they already moved away from the dark matter ending (which would have been dark and bleak and made for a way better external threat than "we kill you so you don't kill yourself") because it got leaked

Even if this does clarify the ending, I doubt it still won't help the game's finale any...

It might sound silly, but I'm still kind of heart broken about the ending.
I doubt the extended cut can make things any worse, so for now, I'm looking forward to seeing what scenes they added.

I will not tire of saying this: I demand the little blue children.
