I joined because of the community (that means you guys ;D) but i hate the fucking mods.
You realise you'll probably get put on probation if one of them sees this right?

I think I joined to comment in a thread called 'What would be the worst aliens to invade Earth?' or something. Then I forgot to comment. Damn.

I'll do a super-necro next year. It will be awesome.
Promote the thread whynot :3

It was the only forum I've ever seen that didn't bowl me over with how stupid everyone on it was.

This alone astounded me, and I joined up post haste.

I stayed for all the great friends I've made on here.
I'm sure the feeling's mutual Mr. celeb. To be honest, with your record here I'm surprised you've never gotten honorable title by the Mods.

Well I joined the Escapist over a year ago....and that was to respond to a thread. 365 days later. I've responded to over 6,000 threads and that number is still growing.

I was in dire need of a handy way to waste time and shoot the breeze, when I decided to join The Escapist. I said to myself: "What say you, old chum; Why not give this jolly place a chance?" And I answered to myself: "By Jove, that indeed we shall do." And then I started running around in circles while slapping myself with a herring.

Meanwhile, in reality: The Escapist turned out to be a great source of information concerning the gaming culture. Great articles, news posts and lively community have offered me the kind of insight I lacked before, and as a (some sort of) gamer, I like to know what´s happening out there and what other gamers are thinking. So, in addition to information, this place gives me the opportunity to meet people not found from my immediate surroundings.

All in all, I´m enjoying my stay.

Heard about it from ZP, went on it.

Posted alot and knew about new releases/news before any of my friends.

Also got some shiny badges.

I lurked for a long time (over a year) and found the forums rather nice and interesting. I later decided to sign up because of a glut of youth-bashing threads, and before I knew it I got sucked into several aspects of the community, including being a rare user who's interactions with Max remained pleasant (I'm still surprised how quickly his ban went over and was forgotten; I was expecting the forums to physically explode, or at least a lot more threads mourning his ban).

It's also quite humbling isn't it? Seeing REAL gamers putting things in perspective :p

Mainly because I've been on probation and suspension a fuckload of times, regretfully.

Anyway, they give those out to the proper contributors, and you could hardly call me one of those.
So long story short... You've been a baaad boy ):

Sort of. None of those offenses were really malicious, just a bunch of stupid mistakes.

However, I think I've made all the mistakes I can so far, so I hope I can stay clean for as long as I can.
Someday your honor shall be won back, or should you expire before that, Valhalla would surely open itself to you for you keep on fightin ;D

It's true. We only exist when you're online. And we like existing so please stay online. I don't like the darkness I go to when you log off... it's cold... and frightening...
Don't worry, I haven't actually been offline for about a week, I don't turn my Laptop off.

I´m a bit unsure about the definition of "real gamer", but you´re right in that it does put things in perspective, or at least into a proper context, when you get to know the point of view of other gamers.

I joined because my friends were all working for summer break and I wasn't, so I needed something to do
something besides working of course
and the escapist looked like the perfect place.
