I act like myself all the time. The closest I come to "wearing a mask" is pretending to be interested in something a friend is telling me about.

Pretty much all the time except with about two people, and it's basically a guy who never likes to talk about himself or any problems he has.

When I'm with a group of people I don't particularly give a shit about I become the life of the party just making an ass of myself and hit on anything without a Y-chromosome. If I'm with people who I know and/or care about I'll just be myself let someone else be the fool of the party.

I have a real intimacy problem. I'm usually sarcastic and cynical, and, unknowingly, push myself away from everyone I know. I try not to. So I guess I'm Chandler as well. In reality, I want to have more close friends, but this wall I put up is making it impossible. I just need someone with a (metaphorical) hammer to help me take it down.

Hm, a friend of mine actually wrote an interesting poem about social masks, had a nice view on them. Anyway, to answer the question I have none, I'm myself, always.

Socially, I'm a submissive pushover who tends to get pushed around
In my head, I am seething with cold, narrow eyed rage when I get pushed around.

Normal: frighteningly eccentric and occasionally witty

When convesation goes stale I'm the rampantly delusional one, who will demand biscuits and generally hype himself up so as to hear "Oh, Ali, yoo so crazeh!" followed by canned laughter

When I can't think of wit, I resolve for mental-minded randomness to win the day

Well not in the sense of a mask that will talk to people in awkward situations. I would just tell them to die then mumble to myself about how my day was while they continued doing whatever.

Ehh... Online I am as I truly am. Emotionally hardened. I have trouble with caring for others, and generally showing any other feelings, to the point where people and their needs just get to me. When I'm with my friends or generally out and about, I pretend to care. I feel empty, but no one seems to notice I'm acting, maybe I'm just that good or maybe they just don't care?

I just realized you despise masks, but have Majora's Mask as an avatar, and part of your username. Also, Persona, relating to a Social Mask, a different persona you adopt depending on the situation.

OT: In an uncomfortable situation, I usually just start coming up with excuses to change the topic off of the top of my head, none of which work. Sometimes i'll also just stop talking, because my brain is using all of it's willpower to not explode out of the uncomfortableness of the situation, so it can't devote any brainpower to other functions.

Socially, i put on a display of unassuming naivety and general silliness. It allows for people to not expect very much from me, while simultaneously providing me with the opportunity to completely wow everyone with a random intelligent comment every now and then. Really it's only on the internet that someone can get a glimpse of who I really am.

Isn't that interesting? WE are afraid of hurting those around us with who we really are, so we open up to complete, faceless strangers in an attempt to connect with someone. If we hurt those people, who cares, since the odds are we will never see them or even develop an actual relationship.

I had one so pervasive in high school that everyone thought it was how I actually was, and the few people who didn't wondered what was wrong with me when I suddenly went all horrible. I was sarcastic, mean, and generally bastardly. I even got named (I did not come up with any of these names):

Prince of Darkness, Dark Lord, Lord of Darkness. (I wore a lot of black as well)

Nowadays I slip into a sort of wacky crazy fun-loving type person, life of the party loud and extrovert. It's closer to what I'm like in normal situations, but more of an exaggeration than actually me.
