Brian felt a look of pure annoyance coming from Tyson's girl, the kind that told him he may be dead before he even left the starting gate. "Jeez, uh, you know, ah, I think, that might be good, yeah. Thanks, eh? Seriously!" He didn't want to risk pissing Erica off farther, lest he bring down two sets of wrath upon him.
He was a little shaken now. Fucking Christ, if I even try for this girl, I better make sure I don't do anything to her or this girl's going to break me so hard it'll take weeks for me to heal. At least I'm not one of those extreme guys. Good thing I left my jacket back at the base, bet she would have loved to see that. Still, she was really nice to me, and with the question on the syrup she was right on the money, assuring of that. I don't know. It might work. There's a chance right? Erica said it was very likely she would turn me down, that doesn't mean certainly. Oh shit, here she comes.
Kayla was certainly on her way back to their table, brunette hair waving bobbing behind her as she moved. It was pinned up by the hairnet, but you could tell there was length to it when it was down. Definitely looked like she didn't belong in a waitressing job. She wasn't knock out gorgeous, but as confirmed by Richard, she was definitely cute. Those eyes helped, those light blue eyes that seemed to hold ten orphanages worth of hope in them. She was short, had to be a foot shorter than Brian was, but she was proportioned well. No curve out of place. The uniform did nothing to reveal her personality, but as she got back to the table, he noticed the necklace she was wearing, a simple necklace, with a simple stone pendant. As a whole it was nothing special, but it was the stone that interested Brian. Thanks to his mom's superstitious ways, he knew exactly what that meant. That was the in.
"How are you guys doing over here?" she asked as she came up to the table.
"Pretty good," Brian answered for the group. "Pretty good. Can't complain. You know, that's a really pretty necklace you got on there. December birthday?"
"Um yeah," she answered. "How did you know?"
"Well it's an awesome month to be born in. Totally better than March, you know."
"Yeah, I guess."
All right bring it back in, don't weird her out man. "So yeah, I'm Brian by the way, friend of Tyson's here."
"Oh yeah, the guy Erica's always talking about. The one that saved her from that other guy, that's cool."
"Yep yep, I work with him, but uh, listen, you know, since you first came over, I thought you were really cute and I know you probably get this a lot working here, but I was wondering, I'm still kinda new in town, don't really know anybody, so I was wondering if maybe you would want to hang out sometime, you know..."
"You mean like a date?" Kayla asked him.
"Yeah, we can call it a date. I wasn't going to outright label it that, but yeah, what do you say?"
Kayla stood there for a couple seconds, as if she was silently appraising the young Canadian. He could see her eyes dart past him, to where Erica was still resting on Tyson's head, then back to Brian. Brian could only think to himself, Man I wish I had telepathy instead of healing right now.
"Yeah, OK, I guess we can try it sometime."
Brian was doing cartwheels in his head. Hell fucking yes! All right! We're in the ball game now! Fucking right! What do you say to that Tyson!
Kayla took out the pen she used for taking orders and ripped off a part of Brian's paper place mat. Flipping it over, she quickly scrawled some numbers onto it and handed it to Brian. "Text me later, we'll get something set up. I gotta go to the other tables." With that she was off.
Brian was ecstatic. He gave a little fist pump once she was away and turned to Tyson and his girl. "Hey, how about that there, eh?"
