"I missed you."

I could say the same for you, Levi meant to say, but Taryn's lips pressed up against his before he could speak. An intense feeling of warmth lanced upwards through his heart and began to radiate outwards from his chest to every corner of his body. The world around Levi ceased to exist. Time slowed to a crawl. His hands slowly found their way around her waist, meeting together around her back. Gently, Levi pulled Taryn in a bit more and held her close to him. Somewhat reluctantly he separated their lips, but only slightly, keeping the smallest of distances between himself and Taryn.

Reaching up to stroke her cheek with his hand, Levi couldn't help but smile. "I can't thank you enough, my love," he said quietly. "Not just for today, but being by my side all this time". He paused. "And after all I've done to you...it's astounding".

Richard immediately dropped the phone as he ran for the garage. He hoped into one of the faster cars in his collection and started to speed in the direction of Gentron.

"Fucking hell Alex, what is wrong with you?" He got on his car phone and immediately called Lillian. He knew he was waking her up but he had little choice in this situation.

"Lillian, call Michelle and Gentron building security. Get security into Alex's current location and stop whatever she is doing. Tell the secretary I will have her head if she interferes. Alex is going to attempt human testing of something that will very likely kill her."

Alex watched as the red glowing liquid was forming. "Just one shot is all I need." Alex said tapping her fingers on her desk doing some work on her computer and blinked noticing some files had been opened. "Eric, you never were very clean when hacking in a rush." Alex said noticing her read the files on her turning her self back to normal. "God Eric I will kill you." she said getting up and locked down the card swipe so only she could get out.

-----------------

Eric hung up the phone and ran out to his bike breaking land and speed records just hoping on. He started the bike and speed to Gentron. "I know she'll lock down the card swipe. Fuck I left a trace behind when I hacked into her computer." Eric said. "Why didn't I check sooner. God Alex if you die I don't know if I'll forgive you." he said to him self.

Taryn's eyes half-closed as she leaned into Levi's hand. The breath she drew in carried with it the scent of shampoo, and soap, mixed with something that was uniquely Levi. It was familiar. Comforting. "You're worth it." she murmured softly. Her smile was slow. "You're mine." she stated. The words were quiet but held a hint of force. Through the shirt she wore Taryn could feel the heat radiating from Levi's arms around her. He was hers, and she was his. A two way street. As it should be. "And...I told you", Taryn closed the distance to kiss Levi again. Her hands went up to curl around Levi's neck even as she pulled back slightly. "I'm not going anywhere." she said. Her gaze met and held Levi's. "I promise."

Richard sped through traffic as the Gentron offices were in sight. He would be there soon, he just hoped it was quick enough to stop Alex.

---------------------

A group of security officers working for Richard made their way to the clear bullet proof plastic that separated the lab from the others on the floor. A guard ran his card through the card swipe and entered his code only to find he had been locked out.

"Mrs. Masterson, put the vial down and leave the laboratory. We have been ordered to remove you from the premises by Mr. Masterson."

"You can't get in anyway, I shut off the card swipe on the outside. You're also forgetting I have ice powers. I can stop you if I need to even if you get though the door." Alex looked at them with a dead pan face. "Damn if Richard called security then he and Eric is on his way." Alex said pacing seeing it was 75% done.

-------------------------

Eric growled when he was pulled over by a cop. "Look I'm part of the Society, here's my ID." Eric said pulling out his ID.

"Well let me take a look. Well we've been seeing allot of fake Society ID cards so I'll have to check this out." the cop said.

"GOD I can't sit around and wait." Eric growled.

"And I love you for that," Levi replied with a warm smile. In the silence that followed, he savored every moment, every detail. Their closeness, the faint warmth that radiated from Taryn's skin, the feel of her touch around his neck, the red tips of her dark brown hair and her wonderful brown eyes, everything. This was the woman that Levi loved more than words could describe, and despite the worst Victor could throw at them over two years, they were still here. Together. And nothing on this Earth would ever change that. Levi drifted in and gently pressed his lips to Taryn's once more, this time with a hint of extra pressure.

Tyson arrived back in Nova City that morning. He was covered in scratches, bruises, and scars brand new from his trip. Tyson walked through security and picked up his bag at the conveyor belt. It felt heavy as it was full of books, papers, random other documents, and Tommy's birthday present. Tyson walked out the airport and got on his motorcycle and sped off. The weight of his bag on his back has throwing off his weight so Tyson slowed down. Luckily for himself he passed a cop car with a radar gun looking for speeders. Tyson kind of laughed as someone sped past him going in the opposite direction and he heard the sirens turn on a few seconds later.

Tyson arrived at the Promenade shortly afterward. He parked his motorcycle, picked up his bag, and headed inside. Tyson nodded to a few of the contractors as he walked inside the lounge. Tyson walked by the group gathered at the kitchen table and walked over to one of the coaches. Tyson sat down and gently placed his bag down beside himself and took out a book from the bag. The title on the book read in hand writing, "Echo Experiment". Before opening the book up Tyson looked over at Rowan and saw he looked like terrible. "What's wrong with you Rowan?" Tyson asked, his voice sound normal thanks to the two weeks of isolation.

Rowan blinked and looked around when he heard his name. He had zoned out for a while, and evidently the pacing around the Promenade had turned into him in a chair and staring out a nearby window. "Oh. Hey," he said at first, not exactly sure how to give voice to his problems. "Um... basically, I went to Gentron with Alex, she did some tests on me and... and I may not be..."

He stopped there, unable to say the phrase, 'I may not be human,' lest he lose the one strand of hope to which he was clutching. The frail hope that the test results contradicted Alex's hypothesis, and he still had his humanity.

"Ah, hell. I can't say it. Not until it's proven. Still, I don't believe it yet anyway, and I don't want to until the results come back. Where's Alex? And Eric? Have to talk to them," he added, no longer speaking to Tyson per se, but rather thinking aloud to himself. "Also, varying degrees of insomnia for the past fortnight. Can't sleep, so I end up walking around the Promenade at night. Every night for the past two weeks."

Tyson opened the book he was holding. He was still listening to Rowan as he answered his question but he still had work to do regarding his own situation. As Rowan was struggling to answer Tyson read the quote written on the back of the cover page, "According to the concept of transformational evolution, first clearly articulated by Lamarck, evolution consists of the gradual transformation of organisms from one condition of existence to another." - Ernst Mayr. Tyson looked up from the book as Rowan stopped before he finished saying the problem that was bugging him.

Tyson watched as he struggled with himself for a few seconds before trailing off on personal thought spoken out loud. Tyson looked back down to his book as Rowan trailed back in to a normal answer. Tyson nodded to himself a bit as Rowan explained his insomnia. Tyson had experienced some while he was gone. At first it was the plagued memory in his head, but it turned to not wanting to fall asleep in a rain forest for a while before he got over. Tyson continued to read to himself, That is no longer true. At today's time there are people who are naturally born as humans but have incredible powers. Today my colleagues and myself aim to bring those not born so far head of the rest of humanity up to their ranks. We will effectively accelerate the evolution of the human race. - Daniel A. Tilio(myself)

Tyson took in a breath. "I'm not sure where they are Rowan. I also can't do anything to help you because you won't tell me the base problem that's bothering you. I also can tell right now any question I ask will just lead to the same thing you don't want to say as the answer. I see two options, you tell me what it is, or you don't and keep suffering. Its your choice." Tyson had a sense of honesty coming out of his voice as spoke to Rowan.

Rowan hesitated before answering. Whether he told Tyson or not wouldn't make a difference to how he felt; if anything, it would be worse saying it aloud. But Tyson was a persistent guy, he'd get it out of Rowan eventually.

"It won't really change how I'm feeling whether I answer or not, so here goes," he said, deadpan at first before emotion began to work its way back into his speech. "I wanted to see the extensiveness of the effects of the shapeshifting virus on my body. Talked to Alex, she got some blood samples and she quickly guessed that I... that I'm not..."

Rowan fell silent for a second, the word on his lips but refusing to budge any further. It's right there. Say it, a voice told him in the back of his mind. God dammit, man, snap out of it. It's one simple word, it's not gonna kill you, so say it. These thoughts lasted only one or two seconds as Rowan's mind talked to himself. Steeling his nerves, and then doing so once again to ensure success, Rowan finished the sentence through a partially clenched jaw, looking down at his feet.

"Alex thinks I'm not human."

Almost instantly, a chilly feeling, almost ice-cold, began to spread through Rowan's chest. He shuddered slightly with the cold snap, though whether Tyson saw it or not was anyone's guess.

Tyson was drawn back by Rowan's statement. Not because it was a shocking announcement but because of the stupidity of the thought that was causing him so much trouble. The shuddering after he said didn't help either. Tyson smiled a little behind the book as he flipped through some pages. All of the pages consisted of different project code names, with different names stated for each project lead, and finally a check mark or an x beside each one indicating a failure or success.

He's going to hate me when I tell him his past problems for the last two weeks are nothing to worry about. Its not like... Tyson's thoughts cut off and a worried look crawled over his face. He stopped breathing because of where that thought was leading in his head and when he came across his own experiment in the list. It came off strange to Tyson that his project wasn't the front of the list but he hadn't picked up the order of how the experiments were listed. Still that wouldn't have bugged him if it wasn't for the scribbled out x beside his replaced by a check mark.

Tyson shook the thought from his head and started to reply to Rowan trying to mask the confusion he was feeling. "That has to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Your blood and body don't make you human. Its how you think that makes you a human. Serial killers, rapist, and pedophiles aren't human. You save people's lives for a living. That makes you as human as anyone else. At least in mine and a lot of other's books." Tyson tried to laugh a little hoping to make what Rowan said sound ridiculous in contrast after his statement.

"I wasn't thinking in terms of mentality," Rowan answered, ignoring Tyson's laughter. "Well, perhaps I was, but not to the extent you are. I mean physically. There's a high chance that the infection worked its way into my DNA and embedded itself into every cell in my body. At least, that's what I'm thinking. But once your DNA changes beyond the standard human template..." Rowan trailed off, another idea coming to light in his head.

"When I find out who did this to me, I'm gonna find him and... well, who knows what'll follow," he added, unsure of whether he would kill the scientist who had conducted the experiment or simply confront him. Or her. It could be a woman for all he knew.

"Physically doesn't matter right now. Your current problems are mentally driven. So right now the point I'm trying to get across is just because you've changed physically doesn't mean you can't keep your previous outlook. Trust me, I speak from experience this isn't something you should let change you. Also don't do something stupid like murder in the name of revenge." Tyson responded to Rowan as he turned a page in the book. The notes in the book took a swift turn from the introduction of the list of experiments to the science of the experience performed on Tyson's group and Tyson was having problems understanding every fifth word. It was like a whole new language to him and he was starting to have trouble keeping up.

Richard pulled up to the building and quickly made his way up to Alex's private lab. He walked up to the door before checking his card to find he had been locked out by Alex.

"Open the door Alex!" he shouted.

"I know, I know. Revenge never gets anyone anywhere," Rowan said, nodding in agreement. "Besides... closure is overrated, I believe the saying is." Something else Tyson said sparked off yet another thought. It seemed that both Tyson and Alex had given him things to think about recently. "Y'know, I change physically all the time, from person to person. But I've never questioned myself, the mind rather than the body," he noted. "Why is that, I wonder."

Perhaps it was the fact that Rowan had never needed to question who he was. He had been mentally secure and strong in his beliefs, ethics and morals... but now, doubt was starting to creep in.

Tyson was still reading the book. He was starting to get frustrated with it because he was continuously getting lost upon what was being explained. So far the only thing clear to him was that the experiment had something to do with bats, anything beyond that was lost to him at the current time. Still Tyson had started the conversation with Rowan but knew he wouldn't be able to keep up with it for much longer as what he was reading required a lot of concentration.

"You're wrong. Revenge will get you to an unknown number of places. However unless the revenge is the correct type of revenge, which is generally to equal of the event and effect of the initial wrong that requires revenge, it will only drag you down and backwards in life. The equal is such a hard thing to find and grasp that most people do too much or too little and then end up in a constant state of regret.

That's where that saying about closure comes in. With regret there is no closure and because so few people actually get any sense of closure they try to play it off like its something they don't need. In the end it becomes an endless cycle of sadness and self hate. Don't get caught in that cycle." Tyson had sincere tone in his voice until the last sentence where it came out slightly more like an order than a request. Tyson shifted his focus back to his book as he had nothing to say in regards to Rowan's following comments as it was something Rowan could only know and figure out for himself.

Alex looked up at him and shook her head. "I can't do that Richard. My father fucked me up so it's time to fix that." Alex said taking the finished liquid and sat at her desk. She sat at her desk and drew the solution into a needle. She looked up at Richard one more time and sighed. "It's the only why Richard." she added.

"That's fucking bullshit and you know it!" Richard said as he had one of the security guards bash the panel off so he could get to the wiring inside. He began to bypass the system which he knew wouldn't take very long at all considering his company designed the system.

"I didn't fall in love with you as the result of perfect goddamn genetics. I fell in love with who you are and were, good and bad. You have no idea if that solution will kill you or change you back, and I will not have you killing yourself because of your god damn father!"

Tears ran down Alex's cheek and pulled out her left arm exposing her skin and grabbed the needle. "I was still fucked up Richard. Who I am is a fucking lie and I'm not even human dammit. I can't get pregnant. I've been running tests on my self to see if I can get pregnant. The results to be done so but I already know what it's going to say." Alex said only looking at her arm.

She slowly started to press the needle into her arm moving her thumb to the plunger. "This can't go wrong. I refuse to let it." Alex said.
