While Levi talked to Alex and Richard, Taryn walked closer to the table of gifts. Or rather, table of gift. 'I wonder how many still need to buy something?' Taryn thought to herself. No one had taken Jason up on his offer yet. Perhaps people just hadn't settled on a central gift location and had their gifts located elsewhere. Taryn inspected the box Levi had pointed out. Though she'd help design the item and pack it up, it hadn't been wrapped the last time she'd seen it. Levi was apparently a very good gift-wrapper. Crisp corners and not a bit of visible tape. Taryn smiled briefly then returned to her spot at Levi's side.

It turned out that Sabrina had done well for herself; she had gone back to college and was partway through her business studies degree, having dropped out when she went into therapy after the incident. During the years she had been out of contact with Rowan, she had done well for herself; her mind was primarily on her studies, and she was doing well. Then eventually she ran out of things to say, during which time Rowan had wandered the entire length of the Promenade besides the basement - popping into the lounge momentarily to wave hello to Alex and Richard who had just arrived - with the phone at his ear the entire time. And then she said, "Well, that's it for me. Um... what about you? How's life? Did you join the Society?"

"Um, yeah, I did. You may have seen the news broadcast a while back where they got footage of me shifting into a slightly more intimidating figure," Rowan answered, then proceeded to fill Sabi in on almost everything that had taken place since he had joined up. He told her most of the Cadizki encounter; he left out the part about him killing one of the Chameleons, feeling that she wouldn't want to hear about that in particular. "So, that's everything. I've had my mind forced into the body of another Society member, took a trip through the mindscape of another guy, and my abilities have been improved," he finished.

"Fascinating..." Sabrina trailed off before taking an audible breath; he remembered that she did that when calming her nerves. "Hey, listen, do you want to meet up some time? Maybe get a coffee? It's been a while, and... it couldn't hurt to see you again."

Rowan froze in the doorway to the lounge, excited by the prospect. "Um... that sounds great, Sabi, I'd love to. I'll check with the Society to see if I'm needed at all today, and call you back when I'm free to leave the Promenade. Are you still at your old place, or have you moved to a campus apartment?" Upon hearing that the latter was the case, he continued, "Alright, so I'll let you know where and when... Alright. See you later." He hung up, a smile on his face, and returned to the group in the lounge. Garrus and Leland seemed to be in charge of everything, so he looked to them in particular.

"Um... is it okay with you guys if I head out for the afternoon? Unless, of course, you need me for something party-oriented," he added, figuring the brothers would be the best ones to give the go-ahead.

Katie's brief swim had to pause momentarily; she had a minor clothing malfunction in the form of a certain knot undoing itself. A little embarrassed by this, but not as much as if anyone had been in the room to see it, she retied the offending knot as securely as possible - it was always difficult to tie them by herself without a mirror to help - and resumed her regular routine of going up and down the pool for another few minutes before getting out and drying herself off. That was pretty much all Katie did for exercise, considering that she was already fairly fit. The swimming was more to maintain her fitness levels than improve them.

The towel secured around herself once more, she hurried through the Promenade towards the gardens, heading for her room to change back into the clothes she had worn before. Every time, she reminded herself to take the change of clothes with her, and every time she forgot. Next time, she was writing herself a note.

Shortly after waking up, Tommy left the Promenade to visit his family. He did this at an incredibly early hour when no one was awake for two reasons, first was so no one would see him, second because tradition demanded it. The traditions of the Stitch family where numerous, they being an old family tracing lineage back to the Carolinians, and being mages on top of that. The Stitch's had traditions for every event, holidays, births, funerals, weddings, divorces, resurrections, summonings, banishments, eclipses, disasters, and of course birthdays. The tradition that made Tommy have to get up at 11:30 PM after only a scant hour of sleep, was a simple one. The child must meet his parent's at the hour of his birth. For Tommy, that meant the witching hour. So, Tommy met with his parents, the Necromancer Dustin, and the Seer Alina. Then pacts were re-newed, spells weaved, gifts given, and good wishes bestowed. After a final toast Tommy left his parents with two packages, with a tome, bound in brown paper and twine, and a crate. One was a gift, the other a mighty burden.

It would be several more hours before Tommy would go back to his friends, more traditions of course. He wasn't sure what would happen if he shirked them, he wasn't keen on finding out. And, eventually, Tommy arrived home. Tome in one hand, craft balanced on his shoulder. He walked to the door and rang the door-bell to be let in.

""Good good, you live in the massive mansion long enough you get used to the massive mansion. So how're things with you?" Richard replied as he looked over the room to see if there might be anything else needing to be done or if he could retrieve his gift for tommy from his room in the Promenade.

"Everyone, if you want to help out just look at the checklist. For the most part there isn't that much to do. I think it's mainly setting up the present table and getting out all the party favors and the utensils for food. Rowan you can go if you want, there are more than enough people here to finish with what's needed," Garrus said as he finished filling the last balloon with helium, letting it rise up with the others and looking over the festive lounge with some pride. "I have to say, it looks pretty good," he said aloud as a buzzing sound was heard which caused Leland to bolt out of the lounge to open up the living area doors.

"TOMMY~~! Happy Birthday buddy!" Leland yelled cheerfully after he pushed the doors open, greeting his friend in a tight hug. "We just finished with decorating the lounge, hope you like sparkly purple and yellow because those are the main colors...so how has your day been so far? I see you got some stuff from your family," he pointed out after letting go of Tommy.

"Oh ya, my parents gave me this book and a crate fool of booze for my birthday," Tommy said as he entered the lounge and put the crate down near the kitchen, admiring the decorations as he went. He then pulled the lid off of the crate and showed Leland the various bottles inside. " Most of these are from Atlantis, dad thought it would be fun to show my friends what kinds of liquor they drink down there."

The bottles came in several shapes and sizes. One curved around in spirals, another bubbled vigorously inside the bottle, and several of them seemed to glow from within.

"Nifty," Leland responded as he kneeled down to look at some of bottles, picking up a few before putting them back down, "I imagine they'll lead to some fun times. Do you know what all of them do or is it going to be a fun guessing game?"

"As interesting as they look, you can count me out of trying them. I'll let everyone else do the taste-testing of these," Garrus said as he walked over to the Tommy and Leland with Renton in his arms, the boy looking at the crate with a curious look.

"Me? Well, Taryn and I have been pretty good," Levi replied, giving a quick aside glance to Taryn with a smile. "Anyways, I've kept myself busy lately. Did I tell you what I was planning on..." his sentence trailed off as he noticed Tommy hauling a large crate of some kind into the kitchen and heard him explain the contents.

Atlantean liquor?

"Hey, Tommy. You sure those are...uh...safe to drink for us non-magic folks?" he asked uncertainly, his gaze fixed on some of the glowing bottles. In science, a glowing object meant something was very wrong. Radiation. Unstable chemical reactions. With magic, that was a completely different story.

"Alright, cool. Thanks for that," Rowan said to Garrus before Tommy mentioned something about booze from... Atlantis? As in the mythic underwater city? Or at least, that was the description Rowan had learned while growing up. Whether the source of Tommy's alcohol was the place Rowan had heard of or something else entirely, he wanted to try some of that when the party started up. More importantly, however, he had every opportunity to meet up with Sabrina for the first time in years.

Rowan clapped Tommy on the shoulder and wished him a happy birthday before hanging back to observe the proceedings in the lounge for a while. He'd call Sabrina back in a while.

"No, the labels are still on the bottle. Chances are no one's going to know what they are anyways. I mean a lot of these are from pretty obscure distilleries, you've probably never heard of them." He told Leland before picking up Renton by the back of his shirt.

"No Renton, liquor isn't for babies, you're already like a little drunk person to begin with." He told him as he put Renton down on the couch and away from the booze.

"These should be fine for everyone, unless anyone has allergies." Tommy said as he began placing bottles on the counter.

Tommy's explanation didn't really make Levi feel any more comfortable drinking from any of those bottles. "For some reason, Tommy, I'm not completely convinced," he replied with a laugh. "Just don't give me any of that glowing stuff". He paused momentarily. Curiosity had gotten the best of him. "What's making it glow, anyway? Magic or something?"

"That sounded so hipster," Leland replied with a laugh as he finished examining the bottles, putting the last one back down before standing up and leaving the crate in the kitchen, "Well it's going to be an interesting party with those that's for sure."

"Speaking of the party, Tommy we need to know what your favorite color is so that we can color the frosting for the cake. Your best friend here forgot what it was," Garrus told Tommy, gesturing to Leland. He glanced over at Renton who was peeking over the cushion of the couch watching them intently, babbling something in baby talk. "It is kinda like a rambling drunkard," Garrus muttered.

Brian finally re-emerged from his room, getting as dressed up as he possibly could for this sort of occasion. This meant he was wearing a black hockey jersey, a third version Oilers one with the flying gear on it that he had gotten for Christmas a few years back, as well as his standard pair of jeans.

Not sure what, if anything he could do to help plan a party for someone that he barely knew as a work acquaintance, Brian made his way to the lounge joining some of the others in there, deciding to take up a spot next to Rowan. "So, you think this is what these shindigs are usually like, eh? I mean, just standard cake and a pat on the back sort of deal, there? Not very entertaining, that's for sure."

As no one took up Jason's offer, the keyholder took it as the incentive to move on, especially since Tommy had arrived. He let out a loud 'there's the birthday boy!' as Tommy entered the lounge, lingering in his presence momentarily before moving on to run his errand. Since Tommy was there, it wouldn't be long before they cut the cake and opened presents, so Jason figured that it was best to get his day started. After quickly running through the shower and placing himself in a usual hoodie-themed outfit, Jason slid out of the back entrance of the Promenade, racing around the back to get to the garage. Getting into his Ferrari, Jason placed his comm in his ear before speeding out of the driveway.

"I hope Tiki Treats is still in business, 'cause I need to pay a visit to my good friend Felix." Jason declared as he headed towards The Dawn shopping mall.

"I don't really know, myself. Never been one for parties and my birthday celebrations were kept nice and simple," Rowan answered. "But yeah, hopefully it'll be a bit more than what you described." He briefly recalled the time when Brian had returned from his date with Kayla, only to lock himself in his room and not talk to anyone. Being in a state like that wasn't good for anyone.

"Hey, listen. I'm heading out in a couple of hours to meet up with an old friend, once I can be sure that I'm not needed for anything important. Y'know... I figure your date a couple of weeks back didn't go so well. If the opportunity arises, d'you want me to hook you up with one of Sabrina's friends? Maybe her half-sister?"

Evidently everyone was in the lounge or nowhere between the pool and the gardens, as Katie found out when hurrying through the halls to change. She quickly re-donned her previous outfit, towel draped around her shoulders to prevent her shirt from getting damp from her loose hair, and entered the lounge to find that Tommy had arrived. Once he was free of anything that could be broken if he jumped in surprise, Katie gave him a hug from behind and said, "Happy birthday, big guy."

Pulling into one of the many spots in the lot the enormous shopping complex, Jason turned off the power to his dark colored car before stepping out of it. Stepping into the mall at a brisk pace, Jason made a bee line towards the the south wing of the mall, where specialty-themed bakery stood. But much to Jason's dismay, the store was replaced with a completely different one.

"Dammit! Now how am I gonna get Tommy's gift?" Jason muttered under his breath as he paced outside of the new store.

"He probably just relocated to somewhere else in this place. We could always scan the rest of this place." Erebus suggested. Jason nodded compliantly before taking off, speed walking in the opposite direction towards the major selection of restaurants, sole proprietorships, and clothing and entertainment chains.

"Are you making fun of my son? Remind me to hit you later." Lillian jokingly said to Garrus as she walked into the room with a box, she hoped the gift she had gotten him was good enough.

"So how has your birthday been so far Tommy? Oh and where do I set this?" She asked.

"I'll have a drink myself, and no Levi you didn't tell me what you were up to. Personally I'm always up to try a new liquor though, Patriot punches are starting to scratch my throat and the hospital is getting sick of seeing me for blood toxicity and bleach poisoning." Richard replied.

Alex wrapped her arms around Richard and smiled. "Yea I've had to cut my self off of them as well. I don't mind drinking a nice wine or scotch with you though dear, a nice end to the evening I think before bed. We live such a rich couples life." Alex laughed some.

"Oh, my favorite color is... Uhm... wow I forgot what my own favorite color is... like I can't even think of what color I prefer more than the others... So let's go with Rainbow I guess, but no gay-pride rainbow, straight-guy rainbow only okay?" He told Leland before turning his attention to Levi.

"Well, ya magic, but there are a bunch of different ways for magic to make something glow," Tommy picked up a bottle and showed it to Levi, the bottle looked liked it was filled with churning bubbling magma, but was cool to the touch. "That's enchanted with fairy fire, so it casts light without heat." He showed him another bottle, " This one actually has enchanted yeast cells that have been altered to be bio-luminescent and not die after they finish the fermentation," Then he motioned to a third bottle, " This one just has an illusion cast on the bottle itself, so your mind is tricked into seeing light when in reality there is none." Tommy finished putting the bottle down just in time for Katie's hug-ambush.

"Eep!" He screamed, as he she hugged him, causing him to jump two feet into the air and bonk his head on the ceiling. When he landed he turned around and returned the hug. "Ah thanks Katie, you really shouldn't sneak up on me, I startle easily remember?"

"Uh, you can put them down on the table I guess, I suppose I'll open presents after we eat cake, before we get hammered." He told Lillian.

"Gotcha! I'll get right onto that," Leland told Tommy before going into the kitchen and standing over the large bucket of frosting. There was a momentary pause as he looked from the bucket to the multiple little bottles of food coloring, trying to remember how he had made the frosting for the rainbow cake he had made a number of years ago as an apology.

"Garrus~! I need help!" Leland called out as he grabbed a few plastic bags that he'd use to frost the cake.
"I'm glad to see that you're ready to get that help you always needed," Garrus replied, walking into the kitchen leaning against the counter.
"I- what? Oh, I see what you did there. Hardy-harr, anyways I can't remember how I did the frosting before...so do you think just separating the frosting and coloring each individual bag would work?" he asked.
"I don't see why not. Just don't screw up since we only have one cake and one bucket of frosting," Garrus told him before heading back into the lounge, leaving Leland to start scooping the frosting into bags and coloring them.
