It turned out that Sabrina had done well for herself; she had gone back to college and was partway through her business studies degree, having dropped out when she went into therapy after the incident. During the years she had been out of contact with Rowan, she had done well for herself; her mind was primarily on her studies, and she was doing well. Then eventually she ran out of things to say, during which time Rowan had wandered the entire length of the Promenade besides the basement - popping into the lounge momentarily to wave hello to Alex and Richard who had just arrived - with the phone at his ear the entire time. And then she said, "Well, that's it for me. Um... what about you? How's life? Did you join the Society?"
"Um, yeah, I did. You may have seen the news broadcast a while back where they got footage of me shifting into a slightly more intimidating figure," Rowan answered, then proceeded to fill Sabi in on almost everything that had taken place since he had joined up. He told her most of the Cadizki encounter; he left out the part about him killing one of the Chameleons, feeling that she wouldn't want to hear about that in particular. "So, that's everything. I've had my mind forced into the body of another Society member, took a trip through the mindscape of another guy, and my abilities have been improved," he finished.
"Fascinating..." Sabrina trailed off before taking an audible breath; he remembered that she did that when calming her nerves. "Hey, listen, do you want to meet up some time? Maybe get a coffee? It's been a while, and... it couldn't hurt to see you again."
Rowan froze in the doorway to the lounge, excited by the prospect. "Um... that sounds great, Sabi, I'd love to. I'll check with the Society to see if I'm needed at all today, and call you back when I'm free to leave the Promenade. Are you still at your old place, or have you moved to a campus apartment?" Upon hearing that the latter was the case, he continued, "Alright, so I'll let you know where and when... Alright. See you later." He hung up, a smile on his face, and returned to the group in the lounge. Garrus and Leland seemed to be in charge of everything, so he looked to them in particular.
"Um... is it okay with you guys if I head out for the afternoon? Unless, of course, you need me for something party-oriented," he added, figuring the brothers would be the best ones to give the go-ahead.

Katie's brief swim had to pause momentarily; she had a minor clothing malfunction in the form of a certain knot undoing itself. A little embarrassed by this, but not as much as if anyone had been in the room to see it, she retied the offending knot as securely as possible - it was always difficult to tie them by herself without a mirror to help - and resumed her regular routine of going up and down the pool for another few minutes before getting out and drying herself off. That was pretty much all Katie did for exercise, considering that she was already fairly fit. The swimming was more to maintain her fitness levels than improve them.
The towel secured around herself once more, she hurried through the Promenade towards the gardens, heading for her room to change back into the clothes she had worn before. Every time, she reminded herself to take the change of clothes with her, and every time she forgot. Next time, she was writing herself a note.
