Why would you not use Grunt?
Because you would have prefered Okeer, who seemed much more interesting than a tank-bred generic warrior kind of krogan. Or was that just me?
Grunt has a lot of story if you actually use him.
He really doesn't. He was "born" when Shepard released him from his tank. All he has is a few imprints and a bad attitude.
Take him to tuchanka. I said he had lots of story, not backstory, he is a device used to teach you about the krogan people, and he has an awesome personality.

Only 18% play as FemShep? That's strange. I assumed there was a lot more than that.

Anyway,

I created my own face for Shepard. The results weren't pleasant. >_>

Was male

Soldier

I did use Garrus quite a bit, but I rotated among squad members so everyone had a chance to shine.

I let Grunt out of his tank, and I actually used him a fair number of times, he's actually pretty useful when fighting enemies up close

Not sure if fully upgrading the ship means that I also upgraded the med bay or not, but I did upgrade it to the point where no one died during the sequence before the final level.

Grunt was the only one who died first time I played. I had him become the second fire team leader because for some reason, I was thinking of WOW rules and saw him as a tank. So I thought he would provide a good enough distraction and still survive. BIG mistake.

And finally, I blew up the Collector base and told TIM to STFU and GTFO. Oh yeah.

His personality stinks. And he has no more story on tuchunka than the other party members have on their respective sidequests.

I've only ever played as FemShep, but I gotta make a MaleShep sometimes so I can get in Tali's pants. D:

I always abuse the customization if given one. Which is why I enjoy messing around so much in the Sims 3... :p

Usually I play Paragon in ME, but Renegade can be so damn funny sometimes, and it's great for when people piss me off(*Hint*Guy at the window*hint*).

I only got Mordin killed my first playthrough, but I was devastated, really. I actually loaded an old save and managed to save everyone.

I fully upgraded the Normandy, I didn't want to take ANY chances.

Oh, and of course I let Grunt out. The more people I can talk to, the better.

I never really got into ME2, too samey and Sci-fi stereotypical in my opinion. I enjoyed halo 3 for its setting, music and forged, more.

I played as Fem-Shep. The best way to play that game is a Space Lesbian. I used Grunt quite a lot but Garrus came with me on EVERY mission. He is my right-hand man; I used him all the time in the first game so I knew I could trust him... Also he always helps me make the trickier decisions with his insight. Garrus basically plays the game for me. He is my Boone.... Why do I turn so gay for RPG support characters?

I didn't use Grunt with my primary Shepard because she refused to accept the responsibility for what his release might mean for the Krogan and/or galaxy just to have a slightly stronger squad. All of my other Shepards did, though.

Also: only 18 percent play FemShep? Really? But the voice actor for the male Shepard is so awful! Given how well most of the other characters are voiced, hearing him talk is -painful-!

Let's see...

I played the default Shepard.
I played both male and female, but the female was only once.
Soldier is the one class I refuse to play.
Yeah, Garrus is the man!
Of course I let Grunt out. It's a video game, where are you going to do stuff without regard for consequences if not there?
100% Normandy upgrades every time. And all the loyalty missions. It's not hard...
On my first playthrough, Garrus got killed off by the big insect swarm, which was incidentally one of the saddest moments in gaming for me. Since then, I made damn sure EVERYONE lives on each of my subsequent playthroughs.
I sided with Cerberus once (which was also my female Shepard playthrough) and never again.

I let him out of the tank, but I never used him. Garrus and Thane were my usual choices.
Thane is criminally underrated.

OT: Interesting thing with the soldier - I find it incredibly boring to play as.

The stat I'm most interested in isn't there - who did people sleep with? I want to know just how big the Tali craze is!
Since you asked, my FemShep (only played through the game once so far as I only got it 3 weeks ago) is probably going to die alone. I romanced Kaiden in ME before the uh, incident and I romanced Kelly in ME2 (I didn't know what would happen by doing Legions loyalty mission before the suicide mission).

As for the stats, I tweaked the default FemShep to look a little friendlier, played Inflitrator, used Garrus fairly frequently (I always use Mordin but like to vary the other choice), let Grunt out, fully upgraded the Normandy (used the wiki to find some platinum rich planets, because the only upgrades I had yet to buy meant I needed 150,000 Platinum), I saved everyone and blew up the base.

-i had default Shepard face
-i had male Shepard for first playthrough (okay maybe not all other)
-was soldier
-always took Garrus
-let grunt out
-had Normandy fully upgraded with medic bay and all (thought at the time if any crew got scars they don't like they want it to go away.)
-none squad members died
-i destroyed the collector base

now i think of it he couldn't be more heroic...

Actually, if I played Mass Effect right away when it came out, and not when it had been out a few months and I knew quite a bit about it, I would have been worried about releasing a tank-bred krogan on my ship in space when the game hinted at possible character deaths in the suicide mission. It could have been one of the factors back then, having an unstable fighter on your team. To be honest, I was disappointed when Okeer was nothing but a plot device used to bring in Grunt, quickly gotten rid of in another convenient plot twist.

And no surprise that Garrus is used often. I used Garrus and Samara all the time with my sentinel, and Tali and Thane all the time with my Engineer. I was male with one character, female with the other, but always made my own face. Which failed.

Created my own face every time.
Played female on the 2nd and 3rd play-through. Faaar better.
I used grunt on the second, and found him to be AWESOME.
No-one died for me, I completely upgraded everything.
Chose Garrus a lot as he was cool, but not that suited to my class.
I never sided with Cerberus.

I recall hearing a while back on Bioware's forum, when this first was released. That these statistics were based upon only the first file played. If so, it would certainly explain why Femshep and Soldier are so widely popular. Presently, I am going to be replaying ME2 soon however for my first file...

- Used default face
- Male
- Vanguard
- Garrus! He never once left my party, not once. (Died on LotSB and subbed him back in for Miranda)
- Grunt was alive!
- Fully pimped Normandy
- No one died
- Told TIM to shove it

-Miranda was one of my mainstays because of her versatility, though I slept with Tali.
-Really, why wouldn't you let Grunt out?
-I like the Normandy to be fully upgraded. Really, its the best place to put resources.
-Because of that- and through some trial and error, nobody died on the suicide run.
-I'm hoping to take out the Illusive Man in ME3

Oh shit. I didn't realize people were posting there own stats. I guess I should share myself...

- I spent a good three hours making sure my characters were made exactly to my liking. Damn right I'm gonna use them.
- FemShep and damn proud. Didn't really care for any of the romance options for my character, and only hooked up with Jacob for achievement purposes.
- Infiltrator for me (with Adept for the side character). Fit my character quite nicely as an expert marksman. :)
- Garrus is cool, but I never thought of him as the be-all-end-all greatest squadmate. When it came to actual missions, I always used either Zaeed and Kasumi/Legion.
- I let Grunt out of his tank just for the sake of it (and because Steve Blum is awesome). The only times I bothered with him after that was his loyalty mission.
- Does upgrading the Normandy include the Med-Bay?
- I seem to lose an average of 1 person for various reasons, whether it be a bad choice somewhere. Although once you figure out where to put who, it makes the whole squad member choice thing idiotic.
- Cerberus may have let my characters live to fight another day, but I still say they can all suck a big one. Creepers, insane rachni, getting Admiral Kahoku killed... it's a little hard to forgive some of those things.

And for the record, the only reason TIM went for the closing of the Pragia facility was the scientists didn't ask him first. Get the fuck outta here...

I was offering an opinion on the game, just because you think evering should be a single minded robot like you, doesn't mean you have to be so rude.

And here I was thinking Tali would be most popular. I have to keep reminding myself that it's just a very vocal and insane minority that thinks she is the best thing in the game. Surprised Garrus was most popular, though I guess it's not that shocking. Most people don't hate him as much as me.

If I'm correct, Engineers are also the least played class. Which is a shame, since it is my favorite.
It's also the best class. If I'm not mistaken, there are three classes that are pretty much insta-wins in ME2; Vanguard (or whichever one is biotic-shotgun), the Tech-Sniper class, and Engineer.

Also, I played female because Jennifer Hale is my Goddess.
