Yeah one guy called me c*nt from the safety of his car before finding out I work in the same building as him. "Hey remind repeating what you said? Or do you not feel as brave when stood next to guy who works around knives all day?"

Eh ignore and move on. That has never happened to me before and if it did, depending on who I'm with I'd probably just ignore it. If I'm with my friends, I'd happily reply with something witty provided they are the same or nearly the same age as me. Any other time? Ignore!

I'd say it'd be a bit less than 'in general.' Don't get me wrong, a lot of my peers are just like that but I also know quite a few who are fine people.

Oh yeah! This happened to me very often during high-school.

My friend and I would wait at the bus stop after we were dropped off. We waited because my friend's mom usually gave us a ride home. It was during those waiting periods that people would fling insults at us from moving vehicles. ****** was the most common insult we got. Once a guy just yelled "Fuck you!" at us... creative. Although, the most memorable assault from a moving vehicle came in the form of a soda. Yes, someone actually tossed a soda at us as they drove by. It luckily missed, but damn... xD I felt special.

I was shouted at and called an emo when walking home from school, I don't even have the stereotypical look of an emo so I just assumed they were ignorant twats and walked on.
You could of walked with you head down and have long hair, yet be considered emo or just be bouncy and happy. Very confusing.

I have gotten a whooo and have been called sexy by a few women so far when they were driving by, I don't know if they were being serious or just messing with me so I chalk it up to a win.

Yeah in middle school mostly. Then in highschool I started to scare people with my appearance and they kind of looked away if I caught them staring. They probably badmouthed me when I wasn't there, but hey at least I went about my business without hearing the insults. Black clothes and spiky hair did the trick back then.

Not really, the only time I've had an experience like this was about a year ago when we were rowing at night, a motor boat drives by and the drunk men driving it starts to yell at us thinking they knew us.

Other than that, I'm very often greeted by random people on the street. I don't know why they know my name, as I have no recollection of ever meeting them...

I was either walking to or from work but where ever I was going some car drove by me and a kid (between 12 and 14 I think) leaned out of the window and yelled, "Get a haircut hippy!" to which I replied with an upraised middle-finger. I've disliked kids before this and that incident has done nothing to soften my image of children.

Getting "you've missed a bit" shouted at me from passing cars whilst painting. Really original, probably only about 3 people in a couple of hours.

Another time was when our school hockey team (inc me) were driving into another school so we could use their training ground and one of the girls from that school shouted out "YOU'RE HOT" at us.
She had an american accent too, we thought that was odd.

Well I had a bottle of coke thrown at me while a kid yelled "you suck dick you homo!" which to me seemed less of an insult and more of just stating the obvious.

I get paper thrown at me sometimes in classes.

I'll be honest, it's a bit more weird if some stranger hits on me than if some teenagers me age or a bit older yell insults at me.

Both kinds of people probably won't get far in life. That's what you should tell yourself if you hear some teenagers yelling insults again.

Hmm... I don't think I've ever been yelled at by a stranger for no apparent reason, but once on school trip some Americans posed next to me and took a picture without asking; so hopefully it wasn't for a nasty reason. Either way, I might be famous somewhere on the Internet.

Never had anything shouted at me but i've done the shouting.

Driving past a cyclist a few years back and I was bored.

Wound my window down (yes people "wound" my window down ... we didn't always have electric windows) and started yelling "your back tyre mate, check your back tyre"...

He started looking back and then looked at me puzzled...

I said "your back tyre, it's following your front one"...

Not the most original thing to shout but it did make me giggle with the look of confusion.

Also had a habit of driving past groups of people and shouting "LEMMING". That always got confused looks aswell.

That's kinda why people telling me that kind of stuff never really bothered me. But when they say homo or gay I'm just like "Not quite." ^-^

OT: I've had people I don't know yell "I love you!" at me, which is awkward. Also some jocks yelling "Deez nuts!". I don't get it. >.<

I was walking down the street once and some guy sped past with his friends, shouting something about me having long hair (which I do, I guess). Never seen him before and was very likely a student as he pulled into a college right after he passed by. Another time I was walking along and a bunch of fatass girls yelled at me from a pink limousine, it was inaudible so I shrugged and carried on. The last one I remember was when I was in 6th Form, a guy sped past shouting "I'M SPARTACUS!" before disappearing. What an odd bunch.

Pretty much just the racial ones. Ages ago I was with my brother and we were walking into town when a two guys in a car shouted out a racial slur and also when I was heading back to my flat (apartment), I walked past two chad kids who made some racial comments and gestures (I'm not suprise at this).
Oh also one time I was at the escalator going up when there were bunch of kids going down on the oppersite side. One of them tap my arm and claim I was some pedo mention in crimewatch (he didn't acted serious if you think he was genuine with it). So overall, some people are just plain dicks.
