Someone calls you 'gay' as an insult, what's your response/thoughts?

Once, I heard a friend of mine being called gay. His response: "Constantly questioning a person's sexuality usually points towards being uncertain of one's own."
The guy who originally tossed the insult didn't give any comeback response.

Win.

I'd play along, just like you did. Probably make some remark along the lines of "We yes I am, but I don't see any reason what that has to do with... OH! You're looking for a bf aren't you. Well I am open so..."
Something like that. People who throw around "gay" or "homo" or "******" are commonly the same people who feel really uncomfortable when being hit on by a guy. So of course since the best way to counter someone's insult is to spin right back around towards them, acting like you actually are gay and hitting on them gets the best results. Plus for me its fun to make people uncomfortable like that.

I've never been called gay. A black metal vocalist called my sweater gay once, in a friendly joking tone, to which I replied "Yeah, it's kinda gay (This was true), but at least I'm not the one up there with tight leather pants and makeup. We laughed, and he then introduced me to some pretty ladies, and all was well.

If someone called me gay in a serious tone, I'd probably think "Meh, he is unsure about his own sexuality. Then again, being gay isn't really a big thing around here. Nobody cares, the important thing is that you're a nice person.

Uber-owned.

Anyway, I usually just say that the opposing team just lost because they have nothing better to say. It's basically the same response to anyone comparing me to Hitler.

The thing is is that anonymity was given to everybody when the internet was made. I believe that anybody can be as politically incorrect as they want, free speech and all. Mostly because if we couldn't, then I couldn't say lame (a derogatory term for cripples), dumb (a derogatory term for mutes), etc., etc. and make out of context. I'm a terrible person, aren't I?

Usually along the lines of:
*"So is Clay Aiken, and people still like him more than you."
*"Congratulations, you win the balsa wood 'Least Original Insult' award. Go home and show it to your wife that you will never have."
*"No, actually I'm Bisexual, thank you very much."
*"Which is funny, because I could still probably kick your ass."
*"Actually, I'm as straight as a line that is not curved."
*"Yes, I am a happy person. How is that an insult?"
*(when your mom jokes were slightly original)"Oh, so your mom wasn't... Oh no..."
*"In truth, if you said that to a homosexual in real life he'd probably beat the living sh*t out of you."

Not to be immature, but sometimes "gay" feels like the appropriate insult. Political correctness is getting absurd, and people get butthurt over the most retarded things. If gay people want to run around calling others "straight" as an insult (or hetero or anything like that) then I'm completely fine with that.

Simply put, I don't agree with being gay. Also, I don't agree with a lot of other things that happen. If I call something gay, I'm saying that I don't agree with it. That's as far as the association goes.

I put a lump of Skoal in my lip, spit and say,

"Boy, you just called me gay? That's gay as hell ya' gay wad. Why don't you go do your gay stuff down in San Francisco like the rest of them there gays. Gay as hell, that's what I call anyone who calls me gay."

Actually, I never made it all the way through the sentence because the guy took a swing (missed) and a nearby bouncer tackled him like a crazed linebacker on steroids. Then my friends and I yelled at everybody to look at the gay guy getting tossed out.

Nobody I know really seems to use it as an insult, I can't even think of when I last heard someone say "That's gay" when describing something non-personal they don't like. Maybe I'm just lucky like that.

He flat out just calls me a '******', thinking that'll win him the argument
He obviously just called you a bunch of sticks/twigs. You should've responded to him with instead of this:

'You're so right, maybe we should get together and fuck some time?
With instead, this:

'You're so right, maybe we should get together and you can carry me to your home some time?

I want to know if any of you have encountered this kind of behaviour, whether it's directed at you or you've just witnessed it.
Oh yes. Oh god yes.

And of course I want to know what you did/said about it.
I usually just try ignore it when the whole reply to my argument consist of that one phrase, or reply to it in a similar way as you did.

Depends, if I feel ballsy and really don't give a fuck I'd be like "Well, you're half-right, asshole." Otherwise it'd just be like "Yes, and you're a homophobic asshat. Want to make anymore obvious statements?"

Normally I don't bother with petty insults, but I hate the use of the word 'gay' as an insult, so I tend to get ruder. I'm not the sort to suffer homophobic fools gladly.

So, I'm gay, do you want me now?

Or if someone says that using a certain item or weapon is gay/for wimps/etc. Then I ask: Why aren't you using it then?

I don't remember the last time anyone called me that over the net. It is probably because of how little I say to the "common man", but also because I never get in fights anymore. Oh, and thanks to my gender ambiguity, at least half of the people think I am female and so use other, more offensive terms, if they wanted to try to insult me. :(

If it's over the internet, I say "Yes, I'm gay. Is there a problem with that?" even though I really am not gay. If it's in real life, I ask if they could please find another generic insult to hit me with. Or say, "Is that the best you can come up with?"

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm genuinely interested what you've posted, and I'm sure it's full of interesting things well worth reading (Obviously I'm going to read it fully when I'm done responding)

But! After it's all said and done, we're talking about Youtube Do you think they care about the difference between gay and ******? Or in fact do you think they're even aware?

I've already posted up three completely inoffensive meanings for ****** in this very thread, but does that matter to the people go about spouting this shit out as their go-to insult?

No, whether I was called Gay or a ******, the person(s) who said it were aiming to call me a homosexual.

I think I'm ok on this subject.
