Guh, this is what I was going to say too. Like how Cerberus is supposed to be a ruthless terrorist organization, but they never actually do anything morally questionable and instead just act super-progressive and buy you a nice ship. Or how the entire Collectors storyline is totally and completely irrelevant to the main plot of the trilogy. Or just how the sequel added extraneous glowy bits to everything, when the simplified aesthetics the technology made hard sci-fi sense in the first game.RedEyesBlackGamer said:While we are on that, the retcon of the way guns work. not so fast there mate, I've hardly even touched much less read Halsey's journal(don't ask why...I don't know DZeroMachine said:The end of The Fall Of Reach book and the Reach game take place at the same time... in the book, Cortana is already on the Pillar of Autumn, and the PoA doesn't stop on Reach after battle- it just instantly makes the jump to Halo.silver wolf009 said:Whats wrong with the ending? Anyone who hasn't read Halsey's Journal, but did read the Fall of Reach, and then played Reach, will HATE the ending.
Reach retconned that by saying that not only did the PoA dock on Reach (reasonable, a quick diversion) but Cortana was also on Reach- which would have completely RUINED the ending of the Fall of Reach.
In Halsey's Journal, though, it reveals that Cortana IS on the PoA, and only a fragment of her is on Reach studying the artifact. What Noble 6 does is reunite the fragment with her core on the PoA.
This creates 3 story fanbases. Those that have only played the games, who have a complete and whole story; those that have read all the books, the journal, and played the games, and completely understand the ENTIRE story; and those that have read the books, played the games, but not read the journal, and are left with a big "wtf?"
You odnt even have to be a fan, they're just bad games.ChupathingyX said:Fallout 3 has already been mentioned enough so I won't say that.
What i will say, however, are the recent Crash Bandicoot and Spyro games.
Yeah you know which ones I'm talking about...them.
Jun's a new character, not one taken from the novels.sabercrusader said:Actually just about every spartan was on Reach. This is stated in the Fall of Reach novel. you are right about them not mentioning Master Chief's team though. And what's wrong with Jun being there?
If you didn't read the books, sure, that's what you got.AgDr_ODST said:not so fast there mate, I've hardly even touched much less read Halsey's journal(don't ask why...I don't know DZeroMachine said:The end of The Fall Of Reach book and the Reach game take place at the same time... in the book, Cortana is already on the Pillar of Autumn, and the PoA doesn't stop on Reach after battle- it just instantly makes the jump to Halo.silver wolf009 said:Whats wrong with the ending? to be fair Im not sure this is a case of it being ruined "because youre a fan" more that there were things you didnt like in the seaqel, I mean its not like Im "not a fan" because I loved the second one betterDango said:Mass Effect 2 (especially its DLC).

okay its all canon (I didn't even know that and I wasn't trying to argue fyi) regardless of that though Im in the same bout as you as far as it being my favorite Universe too. And as for the inconsistancies/retcons caused by some the books, animes, journals, games, telling different versions of the same story(the Fall of Reach) that doesn't stop me from enjoying the narrative that they all tell.(can you and I at least agree on that much?)ZeroMachine said:If you didn't read the books, sure, that's what you got.AgDr_ODST said:not so fast there mate, I've hardly even touched much less read Halsey's journal(don't ask why...I don't know DZeroMachine said:The end of The Fall Of Reach book and the Reach game take place at the same time... in the book, Cortana is already on the Pillar of Autumn, and the PoA doesn't stop on Reach after battle- it just instantly makes the jump to Halo.silver wolf009 said:Whats wrong with the ending? But the people handling the series said the books, comics, the short films, the anime, and the ilovebees audiodrama are, in fact, canon. Completely. Trust me on this, I know the Halo story like the back of my hand... it's my favorite universe. So that argument is invalid when it comes to the Haloverse.

I agree, but with DW canon being as loose as it is, I wouldn't worry too much.ReservoirAngel said:Doctor Who: Christmas Carol.
If I wasn't a fan, I could have enjoyed it as the fun, insane adventure story that is. But BECAUSE I'm a super-fan, two words kept ringing in my mind: "Father's Day."
Basically, back in Series 1 of the New Who series, in an episode called "Father's Day", the Doctor takes Rose back to see her dad Pete on the day of his death. She saves his life, thus altering history. In simplest terms, her messing with history creates a 'wound' in time, allowing monsters called "Reapers" to appear, and 'sterilise the wound...by consuming everything inside'. They ate the world and everyone in it, essentially. The problem is only made worse when Rose causes a paradox by physically touching her younger self.
Fast-forward to Christmas 2010, and the Doctor is going back in time without a care in the world to COMPLETELY change the entire course of one guy's life. No problems occur. He then lets the kid version of this guy hug his adult self. Physical touching, yet STILL nothing happens.
I could have just enjoyed it, but everything about that just irritated me, cause the writer, Stephen Moffat (the best writer that show's had) just flies straight in the face of the established in-universe logic of the show.
