I'm thankful that most of my family are adept at using computers, myself and my dad especially. Although my Mum, rarely uses the computer, but when she does she seems to get on fine with it.
Hah! That's just too awesome. I hope you won't get in trouble for it in case someone's computer literate friend somehow discovers that his/her friend is missing some RAM that wasn't missing before.runnernda said:I have a lovely little collection of RAM I've removed from the computers of individuals who treated me like a lesser life form because I'm either A) working in a service industry or B) a girl.
i'm tired of it.. every time he can't understand something the moment I say it it proves I'm impatient and makes him the better person by defaultCorpse XxX said:hahaha.. this is the essence of all stupidity.. Have also experienced this many times myself.. It never gets old..Chris^^ said:got a phone call a few weeks back;
Dad: I can't make the sound work on this video
Me: ok, what are you trying to watch it with?
Dad: the video.
Me: yes, the video, what programme?
Dad: stop getting so technical, tell me how to make the sound work!
Me [exasperated]: I can't tell you if you won't tell me what programme you're using..
Dad: you're so impatient! forget it!
Me: look, just tell me what you're trying to watch it with.. youtube, media player?
Dad: youtube! that's it!
Me: check the little speaker icon, if it has a cross through it, click it
Dad: erm.. erm... this is complicated... there it is! *labourious clicking sound* it works now! why couldn't you have explained it simply?!
Me: *hangs up*
Buying your parents a Mac is a bad thing? My mother loves her Macbook, and instead of using a computer only a few times a month, she uses it almost every day now. Not to mention, its a lot harder for the computer illiterate to mess up a Macbook with viruses 'n what not. I've never had her have any trouble with trying to use PC programs; most anything she wants to use has a mac version.Sebenko said:My dad bought a Mac.
Alright, maybe a little qualification is needed here.
He bought it because they were "popular". Even though I told him not to.
So now when he needs something fixing, he can't explain it, and I have to work out a whole new operating system. Usually something caused by it being a mac in the first place (trying to run the windows versions of programs and the like).
To be fair, FreeArc does compress files into a .exe, but I highly doubt that it is.blue_guy said:My parents are about average at computer stuff so I don't get so much of this. Though someone in my house keeps mysteriously deleting the internet for some reason, and various things like sexyblondesnaughtypictures.exe turn up now and again (guess somebody doesn't realise that porn is generally pictures).

... I deleted some stuff in the main folder. After we turned it off it wouldn't start up again properly. xD We had to reset it to factory settings somehow.
My bad...
I'm a lot better now!![]()
I hope you stepped in...I sure would have.Waif said:I am kinda the same way in my own family. Though usually the only thing I've ever had a problem with is the strange attraction to IE. I've tried for years to get my mother to use Firefox, but she believes in IE. I don't understand why IE is still being used, just the other day I "overheard" someone saying that IE is the most stable and fastest browser. The person talked about how insecure Firefox was, and how glitchy Chrome is. I was utterly speechless, and I had thought I was overhearing a Microsoft salesman talk. Nope, it was some middle aged women who was acting the part of computer genius to her friend.
