I really enjoyed Disturbed's cover of Land of Confusion. So much more intense.
I agree with you, although the original Genesis song does have a better music video.

I am so gonna be flamed for this, but Strapping Young Lads version of Exciter by Judas Priest. Devin Townsend is just far superior to Halford IMO.

Oh, and Gene Hoglan completely annihilates all the people who played drums for JP.

"With a little help from my friends"

as much as I like the Beatle's original, the Joe Cocker cover blows it out of the water.

I know I'm going to catch hell for this, but... Killswitch Engaged Holy Diver. Also Metallica's Whiskey In The Jar, Children of Bodom's Ghost Riders in the Sky and Oops I Did It Again.
I really liked Holy diver by KSE as well, I would say it's on par with the original, they are both awesome in their own way.

Im may get hurt, but Avenged Sevenfold covered 'Walk' by Pantera, and i enjoyed it so much more.
Other than that, A Day to Remember - Since you've been gone
Framing Hanley - Lollipop
Muse - Feeling Good

EDIT: Probably should add the link for the 'Walk' song; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7PIhpySka4

The number of covers I prefer over originals is considerable, so just a few highlights:

Band From TV - Minnie The Moocher (originally Cab Calloway)
Band From TV - You Can't Always Get What You Want (originally Rolling Stones)
Fred Johansson - Music of the Night [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6NYjidHXrk] on Så Ska Det Låta (originally Phantom of the Opera cast)
Elvis - Just about everything, ever
Harry Secombe as Neddie Seagoon - Men of Harlech
Robert Wells & Rhapsody In Rock - Let Me Entertain You

In fact, a whole bunch of covers appearing on Så Ska Det Låta (google it, it's good fun) have been superior - in my view - to the originals. There was a particularly good cover of Mercy, for instance, and Sara Löfgren did a great version of Me And Bobbie McGee.

So yeah. Long list.

Dropkick Murphys cover of Green Fields of France.
It's odd to see a sad song like that pulled off so well by a punk band.
I would like to agree with this. While I originally found it wierd this was on the CD, now I can't get enough of it.

Admittedly, the only cover I've ever heard both versions of is Land of Confusion, mentioned above, and I have to say I like the Disturbed version better. One of the better songs on the Ten Thousand Fists CD for sure.

Easily best cover of all time, at least in terms of improving the original. Katy Perry's Hot n Cold done by a Ukrainian polka band.
