I'd like to contest that claim. For your consideration: Nile, Cephalic Carnage and Guttural Secrete. All play stuff that is very distinct, and all are more brutal than sir Townsend & co. Not necessarily better stuff (though I would argue that at least some of it is) but more brutal.

Also, an addendum to my earlier post: 'I'm But A Wave To...' by Cynic and 'No Return' by God Is An Astronaut.

Iron Maiden - Fear of the dark (The live version)


The way it starts off slow with the crowd woahing along with the guitaring just sounds awesome, especially when you are there amongst the crowd woahing along, has to be Maidens best song!

mine would be Always Will Be by Hammerfall, Never Forget by Diecast, The Incurable Tragedy III by Into Eternity, and Into Eternity by Into Eternity.
