What the hell people? To hell with your ideas of a playable Sonic game. 10 years my ass. There are about 2 and a half games where people almost unanimously agree on that sucked which I haven't listed for those reasons, and I still liked one of them.
Wait a minute... you claim Heroes to be... good?
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF...
Adventure 2 suffered from the same thing Adventure 1: Knuckles's treasure hunting levels. Bad level design, stupid game mechanics filled with INCREDIBLY boring combat.
and if you claim that you had fun with these and didn't feel like they were a horrible break of flow and game speed then you're a filthy filthy liar.
Also, battle was nothing but a remake and remakes are stupid. (and no I don't care about the crappy extra content)
Sonic Rush and Rush Adventure weren't all that bad but also had some GLARING flares. You were forced to play through the games TWICE as some sort of idiotic gameplay-lengthening strategy, the boss battles were pathetic and almost always the same (different only in polygons not in strategy) and also introduced MORE FUCKING characters (as if the series really needed any) as well as THE SINGLE MOST ANNOYING character that makes even Ashley from RE4 or Navi from OoT seem likeable in comparison.
Besides, these games were developed by DIMPS who still have people with talent left as opposed to Sonic Team.
And Sonic Colors... uhm... okay, Sonic colors wasn't that bad although it did 'force' you to backtrack with new skills which is fun in explorative metroidvania-style games but doesn't work so well in high speed jump n runs.
So yeah, we have now one good game and one game that wasn't bad. After a decade of wading through games ranging from unplayable (Sonic 2006, Shadow, Unleashed) to mediocre (these horrible wii games, heroes), it's nothing to party about. Besides, am I the only one who feels like Generations is nothing but a best-of album rather than an entirely new game?
Sonic as a franchise just isn't that good anymore. Seriously, only hardcore fanboys and furries actually look forward to a new Sonic game.
