First of all welcome to The Escapist
now back on topic
GTFO of The Escapist !!!
Flame threads and fanboys are the formulae for all of us Escpaes to get all angry and turn green...
I'm sorry
UnknownIncognito, but I've seen you flame and troll plenty in the past (joke thread, anyone?) and so you are the last person who should start having a go at a new user. Why don't you GTFO the Escapist, if you don't like what newer members are posting? The guy's new, he wasn't to know, so cut him some slack. If he'd ammassed something like a few hundred posts by now, or was generally more active, then fine, report and move on and leave it at that. But now? Give the guy a chance, don't just post flaming crap like this. You're one of the guilty few I've seen and you've lasted this long (not sure how) so don't start on the new users, you arrogant tosspot.
Right, now I'm going to get back on topic before I end up derailing this any more. Quite simply, people have always stolen ideas, there's very little that's truly original anymore. It's been a staple as far back as Shakespeare, and even further than that. Shakespeare used ideas stolen in a way from old stories and legends, and his marketing was pretty much the norm for the time as well (i.e. make you're plays bawdy and full of double entendres so the masses will love it). Even the ancient Greeks did that sort of thing with their plays, legends, stories and so on. I'm aware you're referring to ideas on marketing, production, distribution and all that sort of thing rather than plot and so on, but the point stands nonetheless. Every company steals ideas from others, it's a side effect of competition which itself is a staple part of capitalism, so in the modern day it's hardly surprising. To be honest, I'd be much more surprised if Sony actually did come up with their own ideas...
