Still not up in UK.

Bit disappointed really. If it's working in the US why can't they flick the Europe switch?
What's the holdup?
According to the most recent update (15 minutes after you posted that), it's now up.
uhh, no it isn't(at least not mine anyway) besides, they can announce that PSN is officially up here but as long as I can't log in I'm saying that it isn't back up, sorry for the rant, um, link?
The update I was talking about: http://twitter.com/#!/PlayStationEU/status/69818820973432832

It was up for a while but now it's down again. Can't be bothered any more tonight, I'll see if it's back again by the morning.

EDIT: Never mind, it's back up again. Link, so I don't get further accusations of being a liar: http://twitter.com/#!/PlayStationEU/status/69879534601781248

oh don't worry, I wasn't accusing you of anything, just saying that if it's up in London then it won't matter for me because I don't LIVE in London, but anyway, all is well, mine went back up 10 minutes ago, I'm gonna head to bed then play some portal 2 co-op in the evening.

"...increased levels of encryption, additional firewalls, and early warning systems."
That would imply they were previously encrypting data behind a firewall, which wasn't the case. I wish they wouldn't act like everyone is an idiot.

On the other hand, they are doing well in the wake of all this. It'd just be nice if they elaborated on what kind of encryption they are using. It would make me feel much more comfortable about everything.
who can say other then Sony if they had encryption at all. I'm more likely to believe Sony then someone that doesn't even work for them
If you haven't heard, it's has been reported on by many [http://consumerist.com/2011/05/security-expert-sony-knew-its-software-was-obsolete-months-before-psn-breach.html] reputable [http://www.gamespot.com/news/6312333/sony-knew-psn-had-no-firewall-installed-expert] sources [http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/05/psn-servers-were-unpatched-and-had-no-firewall-installed-secu/]. That's besides the fact that the hackers go everything. If it was encrypted, they wouldn't have. All they had to do is elevate their permissions in an unpatched server. Nothing difficult for someone who knows what they are doing.
the sources may be reputable but can we trust this doctor guy
What reason might he have to lie?
i don't know and what reason would he have to tell the truce
That's faulty logic though. He has a doctorate in computer science so he's knowledgeable in that particular field, he testified before congress, and Sony hasn't exactly refuted the claim. He also gains absolutely nothing by saying what he said. Given how long (or short) it took for Anon to crack PSN security, I'd say the doctor is right on the ball. And if there were people that harvested data from PSN, you know they also tried (and failed) with Visa, Mastercard, and Paypal with the Wikileaks thing.

Has anyone been able to connect to the Australian PSN? The EU twitter says it's up but when I try to connect it still says it's still down. :/

I'm in the US, and it was up earlier today, but now says it's down for maintenance. What's up with that? Anyone know?

People keep saying that the PSN is up in Canada and that they can play, but I still get the message saying that maintenance is occurring. Has anyone in Alberta been able to sign in yet?

Yay.

Actually, I got used to not having my PSN so I dont know if I'm going to go back to it anytime soon. Still, at least now sony is looking good again (Not that I thought it didnt).

... actually, I havent had much time for it. I've been playing TWEWY alot cause I'm refreshing myself for a fan fic I wanted to try and right out that will accompany an online rp that a few members of another forum and I are setting up.
Better practice with them pins, bro. You never know when you might be So Zetta Slow, and forget to FOIL the Noise. So be careful, or else you may need to SOH CAH stubbed TOA.

OT: Yes! I can now buy Parasite Eve again!

Wish I knew man. Been trying throughout the day to get in, but every time "Error" "Maintenance", something's up.

Good thing I'm patient or else I'd be doing something crazy about now. Like bake cupcakes or something.

Well, it seems to be working now. Maybe they were just fixing a connection issue with it. I've been playing Brink on it every so often since it's come up, and it's been a bit laggy. Although from what I understand, Brink has a tendency to lag a bit, so that may not have anything to do with the PSN. Luckily, they're releasing DLC that should fix the lagtasticness.

I had the same problem, but it should be back up now. Mine is. I think that maybe they were fixing some connectivity issues since online play did seem a bit choppy.

Oh look. The New York section is first to come up. Why am I not surprised? Considering they and California are the only states that actually matter.
Or is it that they make the best guinea pigs?

That's weird because (at the time; I haven't checked lately) NY wasn't highlighted on the map.
I'm not touching it for a little while anyway. I never trust those emergency updates at first. Besides, I haven't been playing anything I need to go online with.
I've been playing Portal 2 co-op with my wife but she's going away for business later this week. I guess I'll update then... provided things don't go haywire.

Hacker Leader: Good good, start preparations for the second attack we will make them pay. muhahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
