she now wants to slap a fee on everyone who uses the Sun
But wait a second, wouldn't that just be taxing literally every non-aquatic organism on planet Earth?
And a lot of aquatic life too. Without the sun's heat, the oceans would likely freeze

Actually no, let her own the bloody thing, she'll be sued so hard in no time. For things, like her object emitting radiation causing cancer and also large solar flares that can damage electronic products. Keeping humanity imprisoned with dangerous radiation outside our atmosphere, for gravity sling shot-ing asteroids at Earth. Let see any tax keep up with people suing daily :U

Yeah that was a stupid rant but I thought it was amusing.
Problem with that is she can own without liability. SO she wont have to pay a dime for previous injuries or future ones.

As I said, it was more of me saying stupid things, I don't actually think she should be able to own anything like that. Though the liability would have to fall on her, I mean the town owns the sidewalk outside my house, but if someone breaks an ankle on it because of a crack, I can be sued and not the town.

With just the right amount of Sarcasm, "Owning the Sun" would result in the most entertaining string of court cases in the world.

Funny in a "The Man Who Sued God" kind of way, that exposes all the immediate flaws of the legal system and the stupidity of the lawyers who will defend someone in a case of whether or not she owns the sun.

This could be the most sarcastic thing EVER. *Sob of happy*

This situation reminds me of one of Eddie Izzards jokes.
"We stole countries with the cunning use of flags. Just sail around the world and stick a flag in. "I claim India for Britain!" They're going "You can't claim us, we live here! Five hundred million of us!" "Do you have a flag ?? "What? We don't need a flag, this is our home, you bastards" "No flag, No Country, You can't have one! Those are the rules... that I just made up!...and I'm backing it up with this gun, that was lent to me from the National Rifle Association."

Oh my god why do people insist on giving coverage to people who don't know how laws work. The "American man" who supposedly owns the moon is one Dennis Hope, and he does not have any sort of legitimate claim towards the moon. In fact, Article VI of the 1967 U.N. Outer Space Treaty, which was ratified and is currently in effect, clearly covers this subject:

"States Parties to the Treaty shall bear international responsibility for national activities in outer space, including the moon and other celestial bodies, whether such activities are carried on by governmental agencies or by non-governmental entities, and for assuring that national activities are carried out in conformity with the provisions set forth in the present Treaty. The activities of non-governmental entities in outer space, including the moon and other celestial bodies, shall require authorization and continuing supervision by the appropriate State Party to the Treaty."

Neither this lady nor Dennis Hope have permission from their governments to purchase the space bodies. Thus this claim is null and void.

By that logic, it should fall on the Spanish Government because they cant keep their citizen to use from using her property irresponsibly.

I get what youre saying. at this point, the threads a joke, so its just fun to watch how things would play out.

Yeah I'm a self imposed social shut in and spend most of my time in my room, when I do go out its almost always at nighttime.

so if the Sun does become taxed it wouldn't bother me none

I didn't knew you could remotely claim ownership of anything.

I hereby claim the Milky Way, and Im now your landlord, or a spacelord.
