I wonder if this has anything to do with Facebook recently trying to trademark a word.
Companies have done that for years, and they only own it in respects to a social networking site. So you can't make something like faceconnect.com. Or atleast thats what I read.
Yeah, I got a 'package not able to be delivered' card from the Royal Mail today, and in the small print it said the 'Royal Mail', the logo and THE COLOUR RED are trademarks of the Royal Mail.

They're claiming that RED is theirs? I think Coke might like a word :D Tho at least the Royal Mail have the Queen on their side.

I'm hoping it just means that companies like DHL and UPS can't suddenly brand everything they own red to cause confusion among the 90% of the population that don't bother reading words on things. (It's ok Escapists, I consider you lot mainly in the 10% with a clue, hell if you're reading this, you shouldn't be offended anyway :D )

Yup. One crazy Spanish woman is going to force the whole world to pay her tax. We could pay for her straight jacket...
Way I see it, she has to visit her property at least once before claiming tax.

Good luck, have fun.

does that mean vampires and people with cutaneous porphyria finally have a target for lawsuits?

see alt text: http://www.xkcd.com/816/

and no you arent using the sun when you eat food any more than your using a blender when you drink a milkshake. the people who grow the food would pay then sun tax on the food and pass it on to you.

Dammit! I want to own something and then tell the world its mine so everyone can look at me and start sizing me up for a straight jacket / bullet to the head.

This reminds me of the plot to Highlander 2: The Quickening.

You plan to charge billions of people for something that absolutely everyone needs to not freeze to death.

Yeah, good luck with that.

Get yourself a tasty cookie if you know who Blasto is.

Call me crazy when I think they meant people can't own it when they said country since she kind of LIVES in a country. Perhaps they should extend this to no people before Blasto claims something.
She's a citizen,a nd there for not a government or group. Since she's a citizen, she's exempt from the rules.

So any idea how she'll leverage fees from Plants and Animals? Also if she does start charging a sun tax wouldn't that also force the Spanish Government to pay, the government she plans to donate to? For the love of god if your going to be evil make a better effort at covering all the evil plot holes.

Also I legally claim the Earth's atmosphere as mine, and wish to file for damages for her repeated and constant trespass upon my property, I'm also demand to be called the King of the potato people, and demand everyone wears purple if they wish to make use of my air.

(If only, I'd soon file a lawsuit against Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan using my air, I know they're both rich enough to live on bottled oxygen but it'd be really annoying for them and they'd know how I feel all the time I have to share a planet with them.)

Nifty. I've always wanted to worship a Sun God.

I don't care what her name is. I'mma call her Ra from now on. And we can run away and live together in a pyramid-shaped temple made out of cunnilingus and diamonds by the enslaved molepeople, because that's about as rational as this shit right here.

If she succeeds I may not be leaving my house much, you can't use the sun if you're inside right?
Just make sure you board up your windows. At the same time, since she owns the sun the sun rays are technically her property, and as such invading your property. Illegally, since you haven't allowed her to do that, right? Back sue!

If she owns the sun, she better pay all the farmers who lose their entire year worth of work because of a drought in the summer. I want her to pay when a heatwave strikes. I want her to pay when her sun isn´t heating up our planet enough in winter and ice makes the roads slippery and causes car accidents, that sometimes result in the death of children. The sun is also the leading cause for skin cancer, and AGING!
So sue her when you AGE!
I wan´t her to pay up every time the sun does something bad to someone...we should all sue her if we find the temprature too hot, or if a drought sets a forest on fire. I want her to pay because the Sun makes most of the planets in our solar system unhabbitable.
Maybe she gives it back herself<.<

Serriously...she cannot legaly own the sun...that is just impossible. She must be able to claim responsibility for it´s actions, which she can´t, because it is uncontrollable.
Also, the sun predates her by quite a bit.
This will probably not be recognized by any sane nation, and even less by insane nation´s governments.

She can't own the Sun. The Sun belongs to only those who can incite the ancient scripture and call forth, Ra no Yokushinryu.

I would just like to claim ownership of this reality.

So anyone in this reality owes me a Reality Tax.

Damn it! Alright..how much do you want?

[sub]Stupid Reality...[/sub]

OP: How stupid! She wants to own the sun? And charge people for using it? This has got to be the stupidest thing I've heard all month.

Will we be taxed based on actual consumption? If so, I want a "Sunlight" meter placed on my house to make sure I'm not being overcharged.

I refuse to be taxed anyway. I live in Britain; I barely know what sunlight is.

Does she take Visa?

Also, how does she deal with people who refuse to pay? Repossession is going to be a *****.
You sir, have made my day.

I've got to respect the lady for buying the sun, I truly do, but the tax aspect is utterly retarded.
