The fact that they made Sandman his Uncle's killer.
I think it's very important to Spider-Man's character that his uncle's killer is also the theif that he lets escape. It just weakens his origin and therefore his character to have it be otherwise...

I thought it was a good movie (not great) but i think it was hindred due to the fact it tried to wrap everything up. The end was really rushed and kind of didnt seem to fit the pace of the rest of the film. Maybe becuase they forced venom in there against Sam Raimi's Wishes. The man made evil dead for crying out loud let him do what he wants, if he thinks the movie will be good without venom it probally will. Catering for fans never works, they all end up bitching in the end.

I'm gonna blame the embarrassingly lame dancing sequence in the middle, complete with emo make-up.
This definitely played a huge role in my hatred of Spiderman 3. Not only was that too silly, but a lot of the drama started to feel really cheesy.

Venom was thrown in last minute? That explains a lot.
*shudders*
That was sheer horror, I was embarrassed to be in the theaters...

It failed for one reason. It went away from the comics. All the stuff in the first two films is pretty much there in the comics at some point. But in the third film they went off on their own tangents. Shoehorning the Sandman into Spiderman's origin story for no reason. The Gwen Stacy nonsense, just because the fans knew the name. If they wanted a Gwen Stacy character she should have been introduced in the first two films. And what the hell is up with the Sandman running in an open field and he just happens to fall into some weird physics experiment. Yikes that's lame.

The saddest thing is that as bad as it was it all could have worked if they had used it properly and left Venom out of the story. Spidey should have used the Black Suit to defeat Sandman. Then he realizes it's "taking over", does the bit with the church bell, fade to black, roll credits, Venom is set up for the next film and everything is tied up nicely.

Instead it's a cinematic train wreck. And the saddest thing is that it starts out strong with the New Goblin arc. And that wicked scene where Sandman is trying to regain his constitution. Then it just fizzles and turns into Emo Peter's Day Out.

The first two were great. And they were directed by Sam Raimi. This makes them awesome.

The third one wasn't terrible, but it wasn't as good. I don't know why, perhaps just trying too hard.
You're a Sam Raimi fan? I would never have guessed. /sarcasm

OT Hopefully, if they make another spiderman film it will be better, as drag me to hell showed that sam raimi's talent is far from over

To many villains and an extra hero at the end.

One at a time people. It just had to be all over the place to cover all the characters. A whole movie devoted to Venom, then a whole movie devoted to the second Goblin. Then a movie for Sandman. See that would work. But Mcgyvered all together they sucked ass.
I agree, except for Sandman, he should be paired with Mysterio or Kraven, maybe Electro.

I just hope to GOD ALMIGHTY that they don't put The Vulture as the main bad-guy, and put Black-Cat in for Spider-Man 4.

But of course writing isn't without overall intent or motive. I personally think that Spiderman 3 failed miserably because it tried to please everyone. They tried to cater to the comic crowd with Venom, the emotional crowd with the constant crying, the emo/(insert social group here) crowd with the symbiotic suit making him flamboyant as hell, and then there's the comedy...Oh Sam...

What we were left with was two and a half villains, none of which got enough screen time to please anyone and one of which was crying like a *****, Peter also crying like a little ***** where it's not wanted nor needed, Gwen Stacy dying for no reason, and the single most hideously cringe-worthy scene I've ever seen in film (you know what I mean...oh fine, here:
)

Now the question you asked is how they could better Spiderman 4. Black Cat as a love interest/antagonist, and Silver Sable as the overall antagonist. Job done.

Failing that, replace Silver Sable with Bruce Campbell as Kraven The Hunter, but I'd prefer Sable.

P.S. I mean Ultimate Silver Sable [http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/6060/172620-7257-113591-1-ultimate-spider-man_super.jpg]. In fact she could deal with the unmasking of Spider-Man, and that could be a good way to showcase a new Parker if Maguire doesn't come back.

Gwen Stacy didn't die, and I was wondering, what does -snip- mean?

3 villains that should have all had their own movies. Maybe not sandman, but Osbourne Jr. and Venom are too big to be in the same movie.

Tobey McGuire should never have been cast as Peter Parker, and Kirsten Dunst should never have been cast as Mary Jane Watson either.

Venom is one of the most badass comic book characters ever (Right under Deadpool). He only got like 15 mins of screentime. FUCK THAT
He's obviously recurring, and he's getting his own spin-off movie. Feel better yet?

On topic: Am I the only one that liked Spider-Man 3? I didn't think it was that bad at all! Granted, there were too many villains. Much too many. But considering they went with it, I think they did a good job.
