I'm quite fond of the the first two, the second one in particular. Unfortunately I've heard bad things about the 3rd and have such shied away from it. One thing that made me kind of sad was that I never got to play as Spyro when he was an adult.

Nostalgia hit me when I read the name. I loved the games but when they made the newest one it was terrible and heartbreaking. Like they made the first second and third star wars again(and I don't mean the original trilogy).

i LOVE the first three spyro games, the fifth was quite good and the rest were all crap but I loved the first three as a child and I still love them now, they were the first proper 3D games I played

I used to love the game, and really it was part of my introduction to gaming.

Hate seeing what he's become.
This is truth. I love the first (sorry, only) 3. I remember I completed the second and third with 100% I only missed a few gems in the first one.

I wish I wouldn't have been so stupid when I was a child and that I would have kept all my games rather than selling them to Gamestop for next to nothing. I won't make that same mistake with my Wii and Xbox 360. I loved Spyro and all it's glorious sequels. I feel nostalgia coming on! Where are my Zelda games? They won't help, but they'll have to do for now!

Spyro was one of my 1st games. It has a high nostalgia factor. Honestly... I only really liked the original 3 :/. My favorite is probably the 3rd one. Spyro Year of the Dragon.

I loved Spyro as a child, but I got stuck and gave up.
Which was weird, as I also played Quake III as a child. I would play Spyro again, but I had it on my PSX. Quake Live is kinda filling in the nostalgia thing right now.

It is certainly an under-rated gem. Was damn fun and I loved the few flying levels. So... very... fun...

There was a recent one for that DS that was rather fun, don't recall its name...

Beat the original three, again, some time ago.
Good games, minus some camera issues.

They kick ass. Other than one problem... THE FUCKING DIALOGUE. OH MY FUCKING GOD, THE DIALOGUE IS HORRIBLE.

I loved the original three and still play them from time to time. I got excited when the fourth one appeared but when I played it I just couldn't get into it as much as the others. And I just refuse to play any of the new ones.

No, no, NO! Dude, DON'T. Just don't. Trust me.

Insomniac sold the franchise to Universal after the third game, so any later ones were produced by lazy incompetents whose only priority was to make a quick buck. The resulting games are so INCREDIBLY bad that some who have played them, altogether refuse to acknowledge their existence.

Personally, I say they have NO legitimate connection WHATSOEVER to the purple dragon we all know and love.
I know they didn't get the best reviews, but I hear the newest one is actually pretty good.

I know for a fact that I have played at least two of the original games. In fact they were some of the first games I ever played.

Of the three, yes, Dawn of the Dragon is the best. Scenery porn to the max, wonderful music, AND UNLIMITED FLIGHT.

Seriously, there is nothing more relaxing than just flying over Avalar with that soundtrack going... it's awesome.

Eternal Night was good too, but I'll freely admit I only kept playing for the sheer surreality of the Chronicler's levels.

I tried the first game in the new series ("Legend of Spyro: A new beginning"), and while it IS a signifigant improvement over Universal's previous efforts, I still say it falls through.

The graphics are impressive, the controls are tight and the dialogue is great - but the gameplay itself is as repetitive as it gets. ALL you do is fight off endless waves of enemies, proceed to the next area, and fight off more enemies. After a few levels, the sheer boredom hit me like a jackhammer. Much as I wanted to see the next cutscene, I quite simply COULDN'T keep playing the damned thing.

Your taste in games is likely to be at least SOMEWHAT different from mine, so if you figure you can live with a product of the "Pretty world, cookie-cutter gameplay" - school of game development, you should certainly give the "Legend"-series a try.

However, I think you will find that the only way to truly bring back those fond memories of Spyro the Dragon, is to play through the original PS1 trilogy one more time. Always works for me.
