Square Announcing Widely Requested Game Next Year?

The latest issue of the Japanese magazine, Gamega, brought a bit of a surprise when the final Fantasy Versus XIII Director, Tetsuya Nomura teased us, with an announcement of an announcement to be made in 2010.

While he claimed unable to reveal his project, he did direct a couple of hints at us;
It has yet to be announced, but it is a game that many fans have been asking, if not craving, for, for a long time. He has recieved multiple personal requests to make the game and there will be a huge reaction to its announcement.

Final fantasy VII remake, anyone? Or perhaps the direct sequel, said to take place after Dirge of Cerberus? Maybe Kingdom Hearts 3?

In an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Gomega, Tetsuya Nomura, father of Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy stylist, and co-conspirator on lots of other Square-Enix titles, promised a game that is highly requested by fans - some personally requested it from him, and the reaction he expects from the announcement is downright huge.

2010 is almost knocking on our front doors. Let the guessing begin!

How's this not interesting to anyone? I was baffled! They've barely gotten XIII out, Versus XIII is in the works and XIV is set to arrive later next year... I mean, DAMN they're busy.

I think Final Fantasy VII has been raped enough. I can't help but think that if it does get a remake, it'll be ruined somehow. I'm not very trusting of Square Enix to do a good job of anything these days.

Because as much as I love this series, it contradicts itself.

Kingdom Hearts 3 immediately sprang to mind when I read the title, I mean people really want that game but I'm sure he's gotten more "personal requests" for a Final Fantasy VII remake.

First thing I though of when I saw the tittle was Kingdom Hearts 3 and I'm hoping it's that. A FF VII remake would be good as well. What else has Tetsuya Nomura worked on?

Edit: Could also be a parsite eve remake.

Don't think so. If you played Chrono Trigger and got a couple of different endings, you'd see they're pretty definite.

That would be Chrono Cross. I'm betting on a Final Fantasy VII remake. People have been asking for it since 2006 with the tech demo of the FFVII intro scene.

Screw 7, I want 4 remade with a more modern combat system (and make it 3D) like 12 or maybe how 13 is. 4 had way better characters and story over all IMO.

I could care less about 4, they remade that on to the DS(but it was crap).

Honestly as popular as FFVII is, my favorite is and always will be Final Fantasy X. Plot was great. The 3d they did in 2002 is still holding up against the modern graphics. The characters were fun. The combat and leveling system is my favorite part of it. I know it got a sequel, but what I want is a new IP with the same combat and leveling system as FFX. the ability to only use your favorite characters by fully customizing them into whatever you want, turn your white mage into a heavy physical hitter. The weapon customization was also good, the skills on the weapon determine its effectiveness, weapons have no base stats.
