Star Wars Lightsaber Colors

I think it's just a nonofficial thing with the Jedi/Sith to distinguish themselves from one another. There are cases though where some on each side have different colors.

time for a nerd moment, the sith's crystals are corrupted or something so they only give the red colour (at least that's what I believe is the "reason") Initially I'm sure Lucas just used it so personify anger (red) and peace (greens and blues)

Personally I'd have a green one

No, canonically, it's right, the old Jedi order was just too stubborn, which is why Jolee left. Really, it took until Kyle Katarn (read: thousands of years later) for it to become more common for Jedi to be taught that the usage matters, not the powers themselves.

I would choose a colour that is out of the visible spectrum. Then I could kill someone before they realised my lightsaber was on...of course the hum would ruin that plan...

Green: Magic hippie Force focus
Yellow: For twats who try both
Purple: Reserved for dicks who use Mace Windu's personal style
Red: You art evil
Anything else: Oh look at you, aren't you special, just don't forget your helmet on the way out.

Not true. Darth Maul, and Count Duku, both used Windus style. And Revan had a purple lightsabre.

Yes, it's probably not possible but admit it, you want one. It would be effective just because your enemy would burst out laughing.

It shifts through the color spectrum. As for me, I'd have to go with either Violet or Silver.

That's cool, but I meant all colors at the same time. Thanks for the link, though, which led me to the decision that I really want a clear lightsaber.

At the peak of the Jedi order, many colors were common place and where picked by personal preference of the wielder/builder of the blade. later on closer to the movie era after many mines where destroyed by the Sith, or just forgotten in time. The only mines the Jedi had available only produced green and blue crystals. all other crystals where found by the individual Jedi's on the many travels(eg. Mace's purple saber). the Sith's use of red was just a tradition.

Not true. Darth Maul, and Count Duku, both used Windus style. And Revan had a purple lightsabre.

OK, Maul and Dooku are EVIL, therefor red. Also, while Maul had been taught a version of Windu's style, it was an incomplete version. Also, while Dooku may have learned some of that style, it was not the one he most often used in battle. And I thought Revan could use whatever you wanted him to use.

I don't think they should represent anything, and I always maintain that it should be a choice.

However, I think the colours should be limited to Blue, Green and Red, since those were the ones used in the movies, and it should stay that way.

The exception is Windu's purple saber, but I reckon only people of his ability should be given one of those, like as a reward.

Finally, I think that any Yellow crystals should be destroyed. I think it's an awful colour for a lightsaber, and I've never seen it done in a way which I thought was good, or fitting.

Fair enough if that's you're opinion (although the multiple exclamation marks always say sarcasm to me) but I think yellow, and any variant on it looks awful. I think it always looks out of place.

Canon Revan wielded red and purple. And Dukus main fighing style WAS Windus. Thats the one he used against Yoda, and Anakin and Obi Wan.
