Except it's free to play, and actually you can download the current build from a link below the trailer on youtube, but it's a previous build from the one in the trailer I think, as that one is still on testing, but anyway you can try out the beta/alfa/unfinished? version now if you want to, point is that they said it's going to be free to play so you don't have to pay them to try it, I have no idea what they are going to sell though.DoPo said:Dafuq did I just watch? Sorry, I didn't make it clear - I will download and play it, but I will also keep close watch on the development. However, I understand it's free because it's in beta now, I would assume that once the release version rolls around, they would have paid content - whether it's the whole game or parts of it or maybe something else, it is a fair guess that they'll want a revenue of money. And I will happily oblige. Downloading now, I look forward to trying this out. The gunplay looked a little...basic, but apart from that it looked quite fun.

This looks really cool, and I think I'll probably give it a run after I get my new PC (as my old one can barely run Minecraft at any appreciable FPS as it is).
I'm interested in what the gunplay is going to turn into in the long run...

Alpha lol. I tried it out and its certainly fun. Its fairly limited and buggy as hell. The movement system is...odd, but I can see myself getting used to it. Once it has vehciles and space...ya Im going to love it.someonehairy-ish said:

This would be alpha in my view. The game obviously ins't finished on the art front, beta is bug testing changing damage on weapons etc. I do like their tech though, if the could ship that to Unreal or CryEngine like you said then hopefully the can put some more focus into the game and not having to make a good engine. I would like those assets cleaned up 
Then it would be a purchase for me if they were selling it. As for the next Minecraft i don't think so. It is like Terraria is and was not the next Minecraft, it and this appear more 'game' focused while Minecraft is much more on making cool things, there isn't much of a game to it.

Saying that this is the "new" Minecraft is like saying that Mass Effect is the "new" Dragon Age.
Yeah, there are similar underlying elements, but the focus and style is drastically different.
Face it people, awesome games can co-exists without one of them needing to be the end-all be-all of gaming.
As for this game, we'll see how it develops. Although I'm not too fond of the use of copyrighted models for the demo videos (Player is that mercenary Leia was disguised as in Return of the Jedi, and the trench scene had it's fair share of Hydralisks), even as placeholders.
