Well, let's stop for a moment and ask three of the most successful and infamous fictional killers of all time, shall we?

Agent 47 prefers stealth.
Sam Fisher (and company) prefers stealth.
Batman prefers stealth.

The votes are in. Stealth it is. Need any more evidence? The Predators, the Phantom of the Opera, and James Bond all use stealth, and that last one gets lucky at least twice per movie.

Stealth splosions.

Sneaky my way into a base, take out the guards of the core of it without raising alarm, set the charge, and splode my way out.

I'm going to go with the explosives here, the proper application of explosives can make all the difference in the world if you need them to. Not to mention they make a great way of ensuring no one follows you.

Honestly, the only viable choice here is invisible explosions. They barely explode at all. People explode from them all the time and don't even notice. It's just that subtle.

Some people might say this defeats the whole point. You know what happened to those terrible, terrible people? They blew up. They just don't know it.

Stealth. There isn't enough stealth and to many splosions... plus there are lightweight one-use disposable rocket launchers that can be hidden under a coat.

Stealthy splosions FTW!

splosions are nice and pretty but nothing beats the sound of the last gasp of fear from an unexpected enemy as you break his neck within mere feet of his friends, your next victims

Only me against a lot of enemies? I go stealth, increases chances of not dying. Fundamental principle of warfare: you can't hurt what you can't hit. You can't hit what you can't find. It will take longer but patience is vital in battle. Control and discipline will win the day. The fear you induce will cause your enemy to start making more mistakes. Even if they know you are there killing them the fact they can't find you or kill you will become a debilitating source fear. It is like the White Death. One bloody sniper held off a Soviet division. He struck terror in the enemy. The worst foe to face is the unseen foe. Bullets placed in the enemies' heads from a mile away from an unknown direction will scare the living shit out of them. Snipers for the win.

I'd attempt stealth 'till I realise that it's easier to just blow everything up.

See: Splinter Cell Conviction.

If I had to choose, I guess I'd go with stealth. I'm less of a 'Go in there and hope for the best' kind of person.

well if this referencing games then good stealth would be nice to come across a game with good stealth, also I think I would choose stealth in real life too. Alas I lack the body build for a stealthy person, although I do have the brain for it, I guess even though I would prefer stealth I would end up being an explosion man.

Also those of you who are smart enough to see my avatar and say "Thats a bit contradictory to what he is saying" well then I leave you with.

Witty Name Here said:
People are claiming stealth as "more efficient"... I beg to differ, you should never worry about explosions giving away your position, because if they're good enough explosions, there should be no one left for you to give way your position to anyways...
Technically, stealth is more efficient, since there isn't all that wasted energy from a massive explosion that looks awesome.
