Hold on a second...

You're saying there are people who own a PC and haven't played Portal?
You know, not all PCs can handle Portal. Sure, it must be pretty uncommon now, but there are still cases.
Alright, PC gamers who haven't played Portal.

Finally I can play something on my mac!

It should be noted, the game is being downloaded by so many people that it is now on suspension of downloading until Valve can get things under control. I find this hilarious.

I'm trying to download it myself, and I also grabbed Torchlight and possibly other things in time, but I'm strapped for gaming cash (stupid collector's edition StarCraft II, you're killing my wallet!... but I can't stay mad at you...)

Finally! I added all my non steam games to it right now. I already owned Portal so it's not really free to me :/ also, I thought I'd finally be able to play TF2 with everyone again, oh well maybe they will make it a steam play game as well.

Will a bog-standard Macbook be able to run many of the games though? Monkey Island, Sam & Max etc...

From now on, the word "Valve" can be used also as an adjective.

Valve [valv], /vælv/
-adjective
1. Totally awesome.
2. Pure win.

Examples: "Firetrucks are so Valve!", "I had such a Valve day today!"

I've already played it for the Xbox 360. But it's free so why not?

Finally, my Steam account shall be for more than Sins of a Solar Empire and the Plants vs. Zombies Demo!

Steam is absolutely free and amazing.
The Mac version is a duplicate of the windows version so it has a kind of "windowsy" UI which you may need to adjust to.

Like I said in a similar thread.

I need a proper computer first, and I already have it on the 360.
Urm, any computer built in the last six years can probably run it.

I had it running on my MacBook late 2006 1.8GHz C2D GMA950.
Of Course you get a really low framerate it´s playable ok, nothing decent of course.
Also the X3100 is not supported but it runs.
with the M9400 you should have some decent performance.
But with any MacBook you will need at leat 2GB of RAM.

besides that: YES!!!!!!
I found the Mac steam Client with the free Portal offer, which I already owned because of Orange Box. and when I installed it my earlier Porta, Braid, Osmos and Torchlight where already waiting for me. And run like charme.

Just great!
