Steam Summer Sale started today

oh yeh I forgot about that.
Last year people said the sale was 'soon' in about early June then every week it was still no sale, still no sale, STILL no god dam sale, then it finally started about late July.

If you don't believe it's going to be different then it will start on July 11th and end July 21st. Those were the dates in 2013, those were the dates in 2012 (well 12-22nd if you want to nitpick).

2011 was different (30th June - 10th July) and 2010 (24th June- 4th July) and it didn't exist before then.

I still think it's going to be earlier (and longer) this year but if it's not, then I would put a lot of faith in it being around 11th-21st

I think the Stanley Parable is the only thing that would get a buy from me. Maybe if Watchdogs were $15.00. I'd hate myself as my backlog is gigantic.

There's only 1 game I'm getting, and it's Ride to Hell: Retribution. Now why would I want that terrible game you may ask? I'm gonna be Let's Playing it for the Summer of Shit, and that is one of the only games remaining that I don't have yet.

I'm not nearly as excited for it this year as I have been in the past. Last year I bought very few games because there isn't really anything I want, for the price. I know, I know, the great Gaben has reduced the prices so the lowest surfs can afford them, but my backlog is so big I just can't justify buying new games, without them being ridiculously cheap.

That's what actually motivated me to start the thread; I came across some of the other info about the sale start date last week, but I didn't give it any credence until I saw how sparse the weeklong deals listing was.

I think valve's been overconfident in letting everyone else get the jump on them for sales, so I'm hoping they are moving to be a little more competitive in timing as opposed to relying just on pricing.

I only got 5 dollars in my Steam Wallet. I can probably get some more money soon, but I highly doubt I can afford much with 25 bucks for the Steam Sale this year.

Still, if I can get the Walking Dead Season 2 or Kerbal Space Program (Or Both), I'll certainly be buying them!

There's only one game I'd want from that and it's WolfenStein the new order and even then I wont be able to run at on max so I guess it will wait in my library for a long time =/.

Can't say I'm ecstatic about summer sales, I hardly get what I want from them most of the time.

Personaly im keeping an eye for a couple of games that'll probably pick up this time round since i didnt get them earlier, these being Mercenary Kings and Dark Souls 2 primarly but there will probably be some surprises this year aswell.

This got me thinking is there any particular title or titles my fellow escapist's are looking to pick up this time around?

For added discusion do you think the frequencey of steam sales contributes to the overall community by giving consumers more purchase options or detracts by insentivising impulse purchases that may never get played or completed by the consumer?

Personaly i feel that people will buy whatever they want regaurdless of price and the sales are objectively good for consumers.

So hyped. Summer Sales are always huge and they always compete or even beat the Christmas sales.

I also got a foil mysterious card and a shit load of mysterious cards. Hoping for big money when the sale starts on the market.

OT: I'll be surprised if there are any deals that'll get me this summer, there isn't much left out there that I want or would be interested in that is out already at the moment..

although with how far they've indoctrinated me over the years, I'm sure I'll end up buying 10 more games to add to my flippin 400+ library...

I wasn't planning on getting Watch Dogs but the recent mod that unlocked hidden graphical effects made me interested. I might pick it up if I see it %50 off. Otherwise I want to pick up Child of Light and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

I doubt watch dogs will go on sale, maybe winter though.
