It's a cute song. But I never really understood the huge fandom of it.

It's okay. But it's not exactly a classic. A classic game song, yes, but not a classic song that will be played over and over by people in years to come. It's not exactly like it's "Imagine" or anything.
Different genres?

"We Will Rock You" is hardly "Imagine," either.

Genres have nothing to do with it. I'm talking about a song that has lasting power. A song that has that something that keeps it in rotation on radio stations. Something that has the quality to last 20-30-40 years. It's a cute little game jingle, but I don't think "Still Alive" will be a song people will recognize 20 years from now, other than by people who are gamers who obsess over these things. The same type of people who can tell you which Zelda game a particular "Secret" tune goes to.

Not to mention, if you go outside of the "Gamer" demographic, I hardly think you'll find a majority of people know what you are talking about if you bring it up. Most people would recognize "We will rock you."

Meh, I'm not gonna let the Internet ruin something good for me. I think it is a catchy tune and it just goes with the entire nature of Portal. It's unique and just captures that emotionless feel that Glados gives you throughout the entire game.

And here I was, thinking about telling that that still is one of the greater Pearl Jam songs! But I really don't know this one. I've never played portal to be honest.

I only really heard this song properly a few weeks ago when I finally completed Portal (yeah, I know). Thankfully, I avoided most of the Internet hype, so in my eyes it's a terrific song that sits happily on my MP3 player. I can't stop listening to it. I know all the words off by heart. 40 minute train journeys every morning and evening are made so much better.

Still like it, think it's, if not funny, atleast still cute. I guess you could say that the song, to me, is.. Still alive?

...I'll show myself out.

I thank you OP for bringing this up :D I quickly jumped over to youtube and started this beast of a song up :D

I seriously don't believe anyone that likes the song is going to agree that it's lost any 'spark', nor will the people that hate it applause it's greatness. It is a fun, querky and creative song no matter. :D
I guess most of us still like it cause there has been an absence of Still alive spamming on the forums.
I Had a listen to it a couple of days ago when me and 6 friends had a LAN PARTY OF EPIC PROPORTIONS and we decided to have a playtrough of portal.
Let's celebrate that with a song Rig made for the March Mayhem this year:

It was a the perfect punctuation to the end of a great game. When I hear the song I remember my times playing the game and no amount of spammers will take those good times away from me.

eh still dont see the appeal of the song, if people like it more power to em but honestly i never hear it at all as no one in my area had any appeal for the game when it came out, so if i hear it, its a meh, otherwise dont care.

It sounds almost like church music or something. Great to just play for ambiance.

Jesus, that's great!

I've always quite liked it. I sort of shut out the incessant chanting of the fans.
