I dont hate CoD, just the multiplayer nut heads it attracts
I cried tears of joy when I went back to the team fortress 2 community where the language was a little less foul and sentences were formed.

I guess in my case it's the opposite. MW2 bored me after a while but badcompany 2 is still fun for me to play.

Did you get Bad Company 1 or 2 because I feel that Bad Company 2 is better than Cod.

I wonder what would've happened if when the first CoD came out, people would've been all "Stop trying to challenge Medal of Honor!"

How did I prove your point? It was realistic to an extent. I never said it was reality to a tee I said it was vaguely realistic. The CoD series was also supposed to be semi realistic to a point where you need a certain degree of suspension of disbelief or atleast that is how it started. I never said it was Arma or Flashpoint.
Every game is realistic "to an extent"... the CoD series has always pushed these extents pretty far, and MW2 took realism and shat on it, covered it with honey, and put it in a beehive.

Oh look, a 40 MM grenade just blew me up behind that wall... Not that BC2 is any more realistic in that aspect though.
I was talking about the real CoD games and not spin offs.
What, like 1 and 2? I mean sure they were realistic for their time compared to other shooters, but I wouldn't say that qualifies it to be called "realistic".

I never said it was reality to a tee I said it was vaguely realistic.
Actually you didn't say anything really. You just insinuated that it was realistic by attacking a previous poster who was simply commenting that he, just like me, would not classify any of the CoD series as realistic shooters.

We all know what a realistic shooter is; you mentioned a few yourself. CoD, however, has always had a dramatic flair, and has always sacrificed realism for action. Replay CoD 2 and think about how much of the shit you do makes any sense.

All realistic war-time shooters should die.
Perhaps you're lumping in the military sci-fi shooters in with them, but the military shooters really aren't that huge of a problem. There's a few franchises (most jumping from WWII to modern warfare).

On the other hand, we've been buried under sci-fi military shooters in which some future war has our troops battling invading alien monsters (either from Hell or another planet) with depressingly modern weapons since the Doom days. Absolutely everyone has been ripping off Aliens and Starship Troopers.

I feel more like CoD jumped on a successful wagon. That's fine, there's alot of good games out there that offer up pretty much the same content. Each adds it's own flair and has it's own problems.

Medal of Honor has always had a different feel. CoD made the gameplay more favorable to the player. (ie. bullets really aren't that bad. They're like a cramp (I'm pretty sure CoD was first with this, but I could be wrong))

Anyway, I'm sure someone mentioned already that CoD came later. As far as CoD nailing anything, I'd say they nailed advertising.

I once saw cops fire at a guy running through the mall. They hit him maybe six or seven times with whatever guns cops carry. He kept running, eventually he stopped running (see, bullets continue to hurt even after) but he went a good distance. Point is, in the real world, bullets don't immediately drop the bad guy.

So who agrees? Is anyone else sick and tired of hearing about "COD killers" and just wish these bland imitations would stop so new first person shooters could just be good on their own merit, or is it actually possible to knock COD off its perch with a new title? (That would be, off its perch in its prime, not when it starts releasing endless successions of clones after MW3.)
But are you saying you want all FPS war games to stop making FPS war games so that CoD is the only FPS war game and therefore good? And also, am I the only one sick of CoD turnaround time for new releases? I think alot of the CoD games got overlooked because another one was on the horizon already. At least the MoH people got some time to appreciate their game. (more than necessary but still.. ) Or are you saying that CoD is now in it's prime and that all subsequent releases will be clones? idk, sound like a fanboy to me. Anyway, whatever

Funny how Halo is not being mentioned much at all in this comparison. Then again MW2 can keep all the flamewars it wants. Halo has enough fanboys and haters as it is. Everybody else simply plays the games they like and doesnt waste their time here bitching.

I feel like if I made a thread about how the escapist should cut the shit because they are just ripping off PC gamer then I would get no love.
I also think OP should fanboy it up a little less.

Firstly popularity does not make something correct. after all millions of people believe in different religous views but only one could be right (if any are). as for the challenging it's because people are pissed that its fallen from its graces.

I actually like the gameplay and story of MW2, but cant handle the unbalance weapons in the multiplayer. To me, I dont like Bad company, Killzone 2, and MoH because for me, I hate them, but thats just my opinion.

Yes, because Call of Duty is a flawless game that cannot be improved upon and came up with all of its concepts itself - of which all other games with similar styles are obviously copying from.

-_-

No. Just no.
Agreed.

And you think BFBC2 is far superior to CoD in terms of a shooter, but they're totally different styles of gameplay.

Killzone 2 is in no way related to Call of Duty, so where are you pulling that from?

Among other things

the story was broken and unfocused and badly told, and the set pieces made me yawn.
Okay, first off all you described MW2 with the broken, unfocused, and badly told part. Secondly games aren't all about set pieces. MW2 was only about set pieces and that's one of the reason that made the single-player bad. Medal of Honor takes place in real world settings and is based on real world events. Sorry.

Ok, finally I hope you're trolling.

Bad Company 2?
NO MORE CAMPING.
Haven't played it myself, but I heard 99% of players are snipers. I must be misinformed.
It's not that bad, plus you can find servers that limit the amount of snipers. When I played MW2 i found much more campers and snipers than I do in BC2.

You don't like them because you hate them..? And let me guess, you love CoD because you like it?

*sigh*

I do miss the days when a kid could like more than one series of games without thinking it somehow put their sexuality in question.
