Well, If I went back in time and stopped Hitler, The Great Depression would have lasted longer and then There would have been no World War II which means that I wouldn't have had to Back in time to stop Hitler, since he didn't do anything Which would mean I wouldn't have to go back in time in the first place. But then If i Hadn't went back in time in the first place, Hitler would have still had his rise to power, meaning that I would have had to go back in time anyway.........

I would say no. Screwing with time streams and events can theoretically have disastrous effects on all sorts of stuff. So no, I would not do any thing to change anything in the past at all. Not even to save millions of lives. Potentially you could make things so much worse.

Hmm, if Hitler hadn't risen to power, Germany would probably have won WW2, since they weren't weighed down with a horrible strategist.

well i am a bit Jewish (not practicing) so probably yes, but if i was in the 1900's i'd totally own everyone by inventing everything.
How can you be a "bit Jewish"? Like, my left arm upto my shoulder is Jewish, from my belly button down I'm an Atheist, My face is a Christian, and the rest of me is a Buddhist.
It's like Cartman saying that his Grandma was bisexual so hes a quarter bi.

If not Hitler all Europe would be talking Russian right now. His Blitzkrieg happened two weeks before Soviet Unions attack to Germany.

Say what? Soviets had a crappy ineffective army <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_War>pre-winter war and they were afraid to declare wars or take parts of Poland before they were sure that Germany was doing their bidding because they were afraid of allied intervention.

I think it was in a Pratchett book, but the quote went something like:
"Shoot the dictator, stop the war. The problem is there'll be another one along soon enough. Shoot him too. And shoot the one after him. And the one after the him. When you've gone that far, why not invade Poland yourself?
Very funny! What book was that?

What if you could go back in time to 1907 when Adolf Hitler was only 18 years of age and stop him from rising to power in Germany? The catch is that you can't come back to 2008, you must stay in the 1907 timeline for the rest of your life... Would you do it?

To be perfectly honest, personally I'm not sure if I would. Not only for fear of disrupting the future but because I simply would not wish to spend the rest of my life in the early 1900's.
Well, let's go with that idea...

So, 1930's Germany, crippled with 1000+% inflation; Britain with NO air/land defences, USA going through the Depression/Prohibition...We lose Rocketry, Surgery, Computers...

Probable Result : Germany descends into Anarchy, all the Jewish businesses are destroyed in the new Krystallnacht. Poland never suffers from the War and so stagnates; France becomes Germany's saviour (closest power) and runs into trouble. The European Nation is formed early under Chamberlain's misrule which leads England into severe debt. Churchill dies an embittered man. USA and England never become allies. The Jewish never migrate, so the Marx Brothers, Superman, Stan Lee, never come to America. The CIA never achieve half of their espionage. Russia's bid for power runs aground by the Steppes as they over-reach their efforts. Hollywood is never formed. Turing dies from homophobia without the help of the Enigma machine to create the Turing Machine. Computers are slowed. Sinclair/Amstrad/Microsoft/Commodore/Atari never happen. Lack of Fertilizers/Surgery reduces the average age, lack of Rocketry prevents America from reaching the Moon. The Insular European Union holds tight to it's power so Hong Kong/India are never returned. The Arabs are helpless as open hostilies break out across Arabia. Kurds suffer genocide. America try to intervene but do not have the European support, so are forced away from Vietnam/The Gulf. The Baby Boom fails to materialise because of the war. Nixon eliminates Kennedy and is never found out. This gives the Mafia the way in and forces America to deal with Colombia via Ground War where Fidel comes to an agreement, allowing hard drugs legally into America. Whilst America prospers, England no longer has Polish or Indian immigrants and suffers from the despondent work force.

Pearl Harbour never happens because Oppenheimer isn't allowed to complete his research with the V2, so Japan invades Australia.

So we have a debauched insular America, Europe that is on the brink of collapse, Africa and Arabia in civil war, Asia/Oceania still running the Cold War against the decadent Americas.

Possible outcomes...Who can say?

Hitler had published all of his ideas in Mein Kampf. People were carrying it around acting intellectual, but never read it. Reading it could have stopped him in his tracks. I've read it, totally insane!

I own a copy from 41 and it's 80% Hitler blaming everything on Jews (Oh the suprise) but 20% is interesting from philosophical and social perspective.

I'd study the tactics and strategies used in WWII, go back and assist Hitler. I'd also take a lifetime supply of blonde dye and blue contacts with me.

Shoot the dictator and stop the war? But the dictator is just the tip of the whole festering tip of the political boil!

Sure you can shoot the next person, hey! Why not shoot everyone and invade poland!

History has inertia.

Terry Pratchett knows best.

Well, going back in time would at best not change anything and at worst lead to you CAUSING Hitler to do the things he did. Because in your time, the past has already happened. Hence, when you go back to the past, you are already a part of the past, and everything you do has already happened. You cannot actually change anything at all.

That depends if you believe in linearity of time, or in multi-verse theory.
