That seems interesting, but is a reason that the Half-Fae are hunted by two races?
Yep. The humans had a fantasy-esque past, but it's treated in much the same regard as myth and legend. Like how we treat king arthur. The truth of it is that it happened. Human society used to be run by magi of surpassing power - the Half-Fae. Physically indistinguishable from humans but wielding the magical power of the Fae, they set themselves up as overlords and tyrants until the invention of gunpowder. What was once a harmless fireworks display for their amusement became cannon and musket - and whilst they're powerful, the ferocity of these weapons took them totally by surprise. A small cadre of humans who knew the truth of them united in their aim to overthrow the Half-Fae one by one - and succeeded. To keep humanity safe they formed a secret military organisation known as 'The Dragoons' with one aim. No Half-Fae left alive. They're too dangerous to exist.
The Fae on the other hand have developed a society with rigid rules and privileges and status symbols to organise themselves. They're almost demigodlike in power, and so resolving their disputes with violence has led to their near extinction as a race innumerable times. They absolutely love having fans, devotees, worshippers, sycophantic friends, and so their society is set up like a game they play to accumulate the most stuff. Humans to them are cattle. They barely think, they have no magical potential, they just run around everywhere for about 70 years and then keel over dead. They create nothing of true beauty, and are pitifully weak. Now the Half-Fae on the other hand aren't Fae, so they aren't protected by the rules the Fae set out to keep their race going. But they're immortal and magic capable. Owning one is a mark of great prestige for a Fae, so they conspired to bring the entirety of the Half-Fae race into captivity, using their magical powers to essentially over-write Half-Fae personalities into the ideal servants. So any Half-Fae that exists free exists in the human realm - where once the Dragoons get wind of them, their life is in danger - and eventually that will filter through to the Fae realm, who will usually send out Hunters to kidnap the Half-Fae child and enslave them.
