I'm sorry, but WHAT? Kids my age (12-15) tend not to say wise things, especially on Facebook. Yeah, we make mistakes. But suspension and getting expelled? That's a bit of overkill right there. Possibly the teacher in question gave the kids bad grades, or something other than that which pissed them off. Though there might be some base to their claims- the teacher might have harassed them, slapping their butt- disgusting stuff like that. But then again, we tend to fling around quite hurtful insults like a monkey with a bowel disorder. Chances are, the teacher is perfectly respectable. But back to the discussion: I'm disgusted with the zero-tolerance policy adopted by the schools nowadays. I may offend some people by saying this, but I've found modern schools akin to the fascist countries of WWII. People who speak up in the schools- whether to protest the system, to push for better schooling, for us to open our minds- are punished without mercy, while the districts push their own ideas onto us- like "Evolution hasn't been proved yet, so it can't have happened! Obviously in WWII, all of the Germans were bad guys rather than ordinary citizens! Etc." I've heard those things taught, and it's all bullcrap. Meanwhile, the true criminals are running loose- kids who physically harm others, sexually harass members of the opposite gender, people who say goddamn disgusting things about other people for fun. I've seen those things happen- none brought to justice, the establishment saying "We're not responsible for it." I've seen a kid cry due to the ravaging insults flung at him, and the teachers telling us to "figure it out ourselves".
This is just one more step towards free speech being demolished in the U.S, for it to become a hollow shell of itself- to still exist in the constitution, but heavily restricted to the point of invisibility.
Godspeed to those kids, as hopefully they'll be able to get their lives turned around.
