Some games give you achievements for pressing start. Hardly an achievement.
This one. Yeeaaah, I get am Achievement for starting the game, go me!
It really tested my skills and abilities.
On the other hand, considering how Pants on Head Retarded some people are maybe just figuring out how to start the game is an Achievement.

While I love achievements, I do not like the ones you get for just beating the level. Those are not hard to get and it's like the game pats you on the head and gives you a retard accomplishment for it.

In Dark Souls, there is on for getting every other achievement. That right there is garbage. Also, The Mile High Club achievement in Call of Duty 4, was so hard, it shouldn't exist.

I REALLY hate those too.

Or ones that require you too play against a developer of the game, like with Red Dead Redemption.

Really Rockstar, do you know how had that is to accomplish? VERY FREAKING HARD.
The RDR one was really easy to get as it was a viral achievement so all you had to do was kill someone who already had the achievement.Got it within minutes of going online in RDR for the first time

The "Kill an obscene number of enemies" trophies. As in, the ones that require killing more enemies than you would in two full playthroughs of the game.

Example - the murder 50,000+ zombies achievement chain.

Tutorial trophies, I hate them.

In the latest Twisted Metal the title is 'Blah, Blah, Blah, Just give me the Trophy'. It gave me a laugh

Any online achievements. I've actually been avoiding games that have them because they're usually packaged as a half-assed way to pad a shabby single player experience.

Im waiting for the

Congratulations on your purchase that unlocks as soon as you put the disc in the drive. Im wondering which will happen first, that become an actual achievement or digital distribution takes over so that you cant even put a disc into a drive any more.

Honestly, most of them are pretty dumb. Id say gnome chompski, or the one in WoW for killing "critters" or asinine time sinks like Demon's souls "make max level weapon A, B, C-X

Mortal Kombat.

100 Fatalitys
150 X-ray attacks
10,000 pints of blood spilt
24 hours of gameplay

With all 29 characters :| so its something like 350 hours of in game time.

and Twisted Metal has one thats like win an online match every day for a month, I heard of people getting to 26-27 days and PSN being down for scheduled maintenance.
Wow, that's almost 700 hours of gameplay
I mean, It's a good game, but I don't think I could ever play it for that amount of time

OP: Those achievements for every single easy mission you do on any difficulty
Aren't trophies supposed to be about achieving something? Not doing the basic thing that you were supposed to be doing anyway.

Prince of persia - forgotten sands, the jumping on enemies heads one... I tried and tried and tried... but there was no skill to it, just luck that the group of enemies you were jumping on their heads would all stay as a group... The prince couldn't suddnely change his direction, so often would land on a badguy at the edge of the group, and have nowhere left to jump too! - It was luck... Sometimes he would randomly jump over a gyu and go strait to a guy at the edge... annoying!!

Gnome Chompski for Left 4 Dead 2.

You have to carry a Garden Gnome that you win in an Arcade shooter to the end of the level. It's quite fun actually....
Best one ever. Me and my best mates were doing it, and I didn't get what we were doing at first, but we all got into it, and were going on about "Gnomey". "Oh no, we have to save Gnomey!" "Gnomey is useless for bashing zombies."

Finally we get to the finale, and every game one of my mates in the game and I have played, had the chopper come in on the right. So we went off to there when we heard it. My other friend grabbed the gnome and looked up, laughing as it came in on the left, and went that way. In the end, only he and the gnome escaped, as the rest of us got hammered by a double tank.
I loved this achievement XD Took me back to Half Life 2: Episode 2, with that equally stupid-but-must-do-it-anyway achievement of carrying the gnome through the WHOLE GAME (or thereabouts). Grah. So frustrating, but I ended up forming a bizarre emotional attachment to the little bastard.

I can't think of any specifically "stupid" ones, but it irks me when they assign a random number of points, i.e. 12 or 27 or something. There isn't anything wrong with it, but for some reason it makes me twitch.
Oh man, I hate this too!! OCD nightmare XD

In Mass Effect 3 (yeah, I loved it enough to 100% it, hate away) there's an achievement that you can get by either completing all 6 multiplayer maps on Gold, or completing all single player missions on Insanity. It's nice that they presented an alternative to playing online, but completing all single player missions on Insanity is just completing the single player campaign on Insanity, and there's a different achievement for doing that.

So, basically, two separate achievements for doing the same thing. You can get one of them a different way, but if you want to 100% the game, doing it that way is pointless since you'll get it anyway when you go for the other one.

Any of the Super Meat Boy achievements that require you to beat a world without dying. Sure, the first one is reasonable, and maybe even the second, but I can't see anyone managing to get the later Dark World ones without endless hours of practice and perfect muscle memory.

Aside from all achievements, any achievement that you get from completing a level in the single player. Congrats! You finished level 1 like it means something! Good for you! It's almost patronizing.

I find all achievements and trophies pointless if they don't reward you in some way. First Mass Effect's achievements (the meaningful ones, not unavoidable crap like "Complete X" with X being a story mission) gave you gameplay related rewards for achieving them - like health, shields, XP bonuses, bonus powers and such. Lovely.

Waaay back, when Team Fortress 2 wasn't just a fashion sim, its achievements were the way to unlock new guns, so again, useful.

But when the achievements are in a game just to be there, I don't see a reason to bother.
