A friend of mine knew a young girl who was named La-sha. Her mother got really pissed every time someone called her Lasha. Her response was usually "The dash is silent."

Some people can be really idiotic when giving their children unique names. There's a couple in my local community who named their child (I shit you not):

Captain Friday Falkenburg

...Really? Captain Friday? Did... did you ever give your child's future any thought before settling on this? He is going to get teased sooooo much when he goes to school. Furthermore, what if he joins the military? Confusing much? And is "Captain Friday" together as his first name, or is it Captain as his first and Friday as his second?

And you know what the most incredulous part of this is? The kid was born on a SUNDAY!

So what about you? What are some of the stupidest names you've heard parents give to their kid?

Well Frank Zappa call one of his 'Moonunit' so I'd say that. But when I was in school some poor guy in my class had the misfortune to be called Gaylord...

I went to school with a guy named Mike Hunt...just say it out loud a few times if you don't get it. At least he had a sense of humor.

I saw a news report that introduced an expert on something or other. "Now we go to a professional: Mike Hawk."

Another unfortunate name I heard of- Ben Dover. Nothing wrong with either name, but you can be pretty sure the guy's going to be introducing himself as Benjamin his whole life.
