----Sort of off topic, but I want to share this----
Hey man,
I used to want to be an RAF Engineering Officer like you, my grandad used to be one. I also used to be in the ATC (Air Training Corps) or air cadets too.
People used to think it was sad, but I'm 23 now and I can't tell you how jealous my real mates are that I've actually flown an aircraft, doing stall turns and loops. Fired many rifles on the ranges that they never can. Been on many RAF bases taking rides in Chinooks. Got first dibs on work experience slots at RAF bases - I remember helping change a tire on a VC-10 - it was awesome. I absolutely loved it. Got to Corporal too

.
I decided not to join the RAF in the end purely for personal reasons. Even though I've got a Masters degree and studying for a PhD, there's a part of me that still would like to be in the RAF.
All I can say is fuck the people who think its 'sad', they don't have a clue. You'll be so much better for it. I know you weren't coming here for sympathy, I just wanted to share my years experiences 'cause you remind me of myself.
All the best mate.
