Same as above. My parents always call my 360 a GameCube, but that's just because I owned a GameCube first, and that was their first encounter with the gaming world.

Exactly the same with me my dad has no experiance with the gaming world beofre or after i got my PS2 and still talks about 'getting off the playstation' i now own an Xbox 360 and have done for the last 5 years.

My mom used to tell me to "Pause the game" to help her with the groceries, I can't pause XBL.

Ok my one would be when my mum always calls Any shooter of any kind a "shoot me up".
This. Except people would call them "shoot em ups". I know it shouldn't be a big deal, but damn does it annoy me.

I think that's the worst. It's even worse when you're in the middle of raid in an MMO. >.>

Last man standing in a nazi zombies game, at round 20.

I miss my mom......oddly enough I had a dream last night that she came back and yelled at all of us for how I got raised, she didn't like me playing GTA4 and Dead Space.

"Video games made my son a murderer."

"Video games aren't creative."

"Video games give you cancer."

"Video games should be rated like films." (My mum actually said that, I know right.)

"But, surely you're not playing against real people."

Whilst talking in an XBL Party, I was asked:

"Wait, you can make phone calls through the TV?"

The year the DS came out, My school kept pronouncing that hit title as "Nintendo-dogs". What saddens me more so was that most of them owned the game...

For a while after seeing me play the game of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, my dad treated the words 'Flipendo' and 'Nintendo' as interchangeable. Hilarity ensued whenever he tried to converse with me about gaming.
Amazing my dad did the same but when I played Harry Potter and the Philosophers stone.

I've got a friend who always refers to kinect as "kinetic". I've never had an xbox, but that doesn't stop me wanting to stab him every time he says it.
On a completely unrelated note, games don't male you violent, and if you try to say otherwise I'll reach through the internet and punch you in the face. Twice.

A phrase I've never heard said by anybody except people who don't play games but want to sound like they do.
"I'm off to go play Xbox."

I don't go play Xbox. I might go play on the Xbox, but usually I'll go play [Name of the game]

I tried to let my Step mom play GTA3. She was trying to follow all the lights and behave as a real driver. I told her that its meant for hitting people and stealing cars and her response was "but I don't want to get in trouble, I'm following with the common speed."
That's actually kind of adorable. XD
Your right, but to a 16 year old thats frustrating.

Oh, I almost forgot. Any sort of short-sighted bile ever spoken in a console war, a console versus PC war, a game comparison war, and so on...is ever so much this, a gigantic hole dramatic hole overflowing with stupidity. If you don't believe me, I'll understand, but do me the favor of reading some of them for a while and see if it all doesn't seem pointless and idiotic to an extent.

My dad was watching my brother and I face off in Tekken. I was losing badly (my brother is a beast) and my dad just kept yelling at me "Move in on him! Move in on him!"

What the fuck does that even mean?
It means move in on them. When a person is beating the crap outta you it may mean that your fighting to their rhythm. If you disrupt it then you may stand a chance to turn things around. Especially in Tekken.
(I main Sergei Dragunov, so saying 'move in' is pretty damn good advice for me)
Oh, thanks! Yeah, Dragunov is effective when it comes to contering.

a friend of mine's mom asked while he was playing portal, and i quote, "whats the point of having a gun if your not killing anybody?"
