It has colors/doesn't have space marines or Football/a "kid's game", I want a HARDCORE GAME! GRRR!

Really, is the fact that it Mario Galaxy doesn't have chainsaw guns really make it less "Hardcore" then Halo?
You mean Gears of war, not Halo. And yes that does make it less hardcore.

Here are some of the...more idiotic statements I've heard people make:
*Shadow of the Colossus: The whole game is just a boss rush mode? Pass.
*Saint's Row 2: It's just another GTA clone.
*Skies of Arcadia: Oh, *another* JRPG with a teenage main character...
*inFamous: So it's like Prototype, but you can't jump-kick any Helicopters? Pass.

...All of this, from a former clan-mate whom I haven't seen playing any other games besides Modern Warfare 2 and Tekken 6 in months. I won't say he has no taste in games...but I can't say I like how easily he wrote off those four above...
Maybe he has better things to do than playing something he knows he wouldn't enjoy.
Crazy I know, but possible. I thought everything up there (except SOTC and SOA) was pretty overrated.
Good point. It could be that he gets more out of PvP gaming than I do, but then, I got more out of just walking around the maps in private rooms, trying to find the best sniping spots without being NoobTubed to oblivion. To each their own, I guess.

"There's too much to do!"
I heard this complaint about San Andreas and it's 'pants on head' retarded. Complaining about an open world game having too much to do is like complaining about a chocolate cake being too chocolaty.

But as moronic as that argument is it's not as bafflingly douchey as saying you didn't like San Andreas because "I didn't like the whole gansta thing or playing as a black guy...
But I'm not racist."
Well, you probably are racist but are in denial and you only play a "gangsta,: if you stick strictly to the story missions and do nothing else. Even then, the different acts evolve the character. These are usually the same people who hated the soundtrack because "half" of it was rap. Wrong again, there were two rap stations; reggae isn't rap, funk isn't rap, and jazz isn't rap. No, you're not racist, you just think any music made by black people is rap. That's not racist at all. I'm rolling my eyes in case you can't tell.

I hate it when people criticize a protagonist for not being manly (read: only speaks in one-liners, has huge muscles, and never shows emotion) enough.
Probably not as much as I hate fanboys, weeaboos and yaoi fangirls, who defend girly male protagonists like Link or the average JRPG protagonist and get butthurt when people criticize them. Also, I love how not liking androgynous and overly emotional guys means wanting them to have huge muscles and show no emotion according to you.

Shut up, none of these are even valid reasons to shoot down a game. If you don't like the game, 10 points to gryffindor, move the hell along and play something you do like.

One of the stupidest reason I have shot down a game before giving it a chance was something ridiculous. I was at a store and looking through the used game section, I found Ico for the PS2. I live in America so the box art looked like poop. Since the box art looked terrible I decided that the game couldn't possibly be good. I still regret that moment to this day. x3

There's people that refuse to buy Resident Evil 4 HD cause it has no platinum trophy..

Thats their only reason. I defy you to find a dumber reason than that.

My favourite: "it's old", which means it isn't the latest Call of Duty or Halo or whatever popular game at the moment.
I know this is a very late quote (thank the epic necro for that), but I need to say: This.

Me: Hey *friend who I shall not name*, you should try Homeworld.
Friend: No! It's old.

Gah. He's usually so intelligent and open-minded with games too, I think he just wants to be different to me.

"Its a Halo game!"

I honestly feel like casterating my eyes out when I hear that a halo game sucks just because its Halo. I can get "Not liking a game" in the sense of just not being one's thing. But Halo is definitly NOT bad, or even Average/Mediocre. Its a great series of games.
