Alcohol in the 20's

Search your feelings, you know it to be true
Considering the fact that people couldn't drop it to the point of going to criminal organizations just to keep drinking? I think it was a good idea. People were, and still are, apparently very desperate towards drinking alcohol if they'll turn to crime lords to get their fix.

wow,I found,why in a waldo book?
Hah, thanks for posting. I remember as a kid that when I saw a dentist, and he was talking to my mom, it was brought up that I liked the books. He said how it was actually banned in some places (can't remember where because I was like 10) because of things that they would throw in there in order to make it more interesting, get you to look longer and keep your interest. He then whipped out the book to that page and pointed her out. I remember in a couple of my old search and find books there was stuff like this to a varying degree. X-men had a few half naked women, and pokemon... Well, I lost pokemon years ago and can't quite remember, but I want to say... a charcter, (Misty?) was in a shower or something? Sorry, again, I was young. I actually want to find that book again. I used to spend hours digging through it with my brother.

In primary school, all pokemon cards, games and merchandise were banned... Because Pokemon evolved (hurray catholic school!)
I think it was more the fact that they saw it more as people forcing small critters to fight one another for money (In the game at least >.> )

Alcohol. Prohibition was so silly. And now we're seeing the same thing happen with weed.
Except weed was never legal to begin with.
.
Misinformed there Sven,good post otherwise,
weed only became Illegal,Demonised, and morally savaged because the cotton growers of the good ol' us of a(the same good ol' boys who brung us slavery ya hear? were shit scared of Hemp cos as a crop it pisses all over Cotton in its versatility, and the Medical uses of THC had the major Pharma companies all in a tizzy.
I'm not a weed smoker myself anymore by the way except extremely casually and in company.
I'd cite a load of references and post links but its 3am and im up at 7... google it,can't remember the name, but theres one documentary in particular that exposes a shitload of "no way!" stuff about it,I'm sure our fellow escapists will help out.

Just don't quote me on that. Like I said, it was a long, long time ago. And I think she was older than Ash... but since I don't know his age... never mind.
Edit: And upon further retrospect, would it have even been all that bad since I was 10 at the time? Granted when I was a kid I thought it was strange.

I think one of the popes in the 1100's banned using Crossbows against Christian armies. Something to do with English crossbowmen massacring French knights and Nobles during some battle.
Got you history abit muddled there. The Pope banned the use of crossbows esentially because it gave the commoners the ability to kill armoured nobles easily. The massacre was English longbowmen against French knights at the battle of Agincourt.
If I was a commoner back then I would've laughed my ass off. Oh yes I'm totally going to give up my only defense against a bunch of maurading rapists, murderers, and thugs. If i recall correctly, this waas around the time the concept of knights faded, so I'm guessing it didn't take.

OT: I'd have to agree those saying anything Australia bans.

Ash and Misty were both perpetually 10 years old, until one of the more recent series aged Ash up to a whooping 13 years of age. In any case, if you are remembering right there's no way they actually showed her nude, racier anime then Pokemon use steam to sensor bath scenes.

On my highschool, smoking wasn't allowed on school grounds. So everyone took 1 step outside of the fence and smoked. Pretty damn stupid if you ask me.
Ever heard of "Passive Smoking"? I think that's the real reason for this "stupid" ban, personally I gag whenever I inhale cigarette smoke, I doubt I'm the only one who finds it utterly disgusting.
Yet you find cats smoking cool?

Yeah, I didn't mean that they actually showed anything. I probably would have remembered that and probably would have been horrified.
