There's quite a few. If you go to GoG.com for instance, I very much recommend getting Painkiller and XIII.
If you don't mind some pc-gaming goodness. Though XIII is also available for the past-gen consoles.

Other than that... Well, The Darkness is damn good. Oh and Fallout New Vegas if you want something more RPG-y.
Other than that... I only got a 360 like... january, I haven't had a chance to really get to know many more games yet.

Hi everyone. How are you? Long time no see. Glad you're doing better.

Anyway :p

I really do not care about multiplayer. I like the solo experience in a FPS game, but nowadays it's mostly crap. (giving you a list of what i've already tried and loved) I've played Half Life, Portal, Fear, Halo, Call of duty, Battlefield bad company, Singularity, Bioshock, System shock, Deus Ex, Metro 2033, Stalker (did not really like it).

Can you guys suggest good solo fps? A requirement would be it's longer than 6 hours -_- I hate short campaigns (except if it's really good). Oh and it has to be on the PC, hopefully on steam.

Thanks!
Borderlands, Portal 2, Crysis, Crysis 2... Far Cry 2 maybe. If you want a story, skip it. But if you're just looking for some fun time killing lots of people, give it a shot. It's only $20 on Steam. Fairly open approaches as far as tactics go, I always specialised in sniping, a friend of mine would charge in with uzi and assault rifle/shotgun. Anyway, there's that.
Crysis is only $15, and that comes highly recommended from me. And if you like it, I found Crysis 2 amazing.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2, also cheap, I've had lots of fun with that one.

Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (pretty good stealthy fun)

Painkiller: Black Edition (always good for blowing off steam)

And if you want a slightly quirky FPS:

They don't come weirder than Oddworld: Strangers Wrath

If you can get past a few bugs and some really badly localized voice acting the game "Precursors" has a lot going for it (Gamers Gate has it).

"Borderlands" is also seeing some massive deals periodically from various sites. It's not a bad FPS I guess, and inspired a lot of DLC. With the exception of "Mad Moxxi" the game is VERY playable solo, despite the focus on multi-player co-op.

Other than that, I think the problem is that the FPS genere is basically a giant "we can churn it out of a toolbox" money grab to begin with. Your seeing less in the way of single player components for most of them right now due to the industry realizing that all the work they make designing single player maps, could be used for multi-player maps, and be sold for more money to multi-player junkies, especially with some people making loud claims that it's only the multi-player aspects that matter.

If you can tolerate older games with less than sterling graphics by today's standards, "Good Old Games" has a lot of the classics up for grabs. "Redneck Rampage", "Blood", "Blood 2", etc... For $6 a pop you might find one there that catches your eye and seems like it might be worth taking a risk with.

Then of course there is one that surprises me noone suggested, and that's "Left 4 Dead". While Left 4 Dead is focused on co-op, it's quite playable as a solo game. The AI takes over the other 3 characters with you, and they do alright as far as such things go. While some might argue that the co-op experience is superior, I think it's seriously overlooked that the game can be played single player.

While "Fallout 3" was weighted more in the direction of an RPG, for good or ill they added "Iron Sights" to "New Vegas" and made it a bit more twitchy as a result, with all the recent patches a lot of the bugs have been hunted down and squashed, so you might find that a decent time sink as well.

Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark. One of my earliest FPS experiences was a Saturn game (I believe it was also on PS1) called Exhumed/Powerslave. Heartily recommended, assuming you can find it.

I have yet to get my hands on Crysis 1, but the second title ain't half bad at all.

Gameplay-wise, the AI is really thick at times, but you can choose your own pace and either mow through everything with guns you ripped from vehicles or you take your pistol and silencer and deliver safe headshots out of nowhere. Weapon selection is pretty normal, but you unlock attachments as you play and some of them are hidden, so if you don't find that laser sight in Mission n, you won't be able to obtain it later on. Most of the attachments are common however, so you'll stumble across most of them while naturally playing.

The story is positively riddled with smart amounts of foreshadowing and has a good pacing, but don't expect anything like BioShock. Middle feels sorta padded and the very end could be achieved with just cloaking and melee on most difficulties tho. It's the kind of story you should probably play through twice to get the amount of effort they put into this (IMO, anyway). Beware of techno-babble tho.

I wouldn't call it anything like mind-blowing, but it's a good shooter that's pretty enjoyable until you stumble across a real gem. The suit modes are definitely useful for making the combat more versatile and many scenarios have multipath, too.

Have you played Half life 2? If you have, play it again. It's better than most other suggestions here. (No Offence)

Well let's see what hasn't been mentioned...
- Republic Commando (little older but downright awesome, plus you get to command a whole squad)
- Tribes Vengeance (old school stuff, it is a hardcore shooter like you wont see ever again)

Rainbow Six: Vegas has a pretty good single player and Terrorist Hunt is a genuinely harrowing experience at times, especially when solo.

If you can find it for PC (or original XBOX) getting Star Wars Republic Commando is damn near essential in my book. The game has a unique look, great controls, absolutely Fantastic soundtrack (not all of it from the films) and features enough variety to make it interesting.

both of those even out to be 6 hours give or take a few depending on difficulty.

Also I've not actually played it but I hear Cryostasis (NOT Crysis) is pretty good and is in the same vein as Metro 2033 or Bioshock.

Oh, Condemned: Criminal Origins! The game is fucking fantastic (the first one I mean, Bloodshot never happened) and has great moments

I'm quite fine thank you and yourself?

Happy Easter, btw.
I concur with the Rainbow Six: Vegas recommendation. The single player campaign is fun, Terrorist Hunt adds quite a bit to it's replay value, and it has Split-Screen Co-op if you want to play with a friend (seeing how rare true co-op is getting now...)

Both Vegas 1 and Vegas 2 should be available for almost nothing since they're pretty old games. Amazon has them for $10-$15, but I'm sure you could find them cheaper if you look.

Half Life 1, Quake 2, Doom 2, Marathon, if you're into classics. I highly recommend Quake 2 though.

Then for more recent titles, Half Life 2, Amnesia: The Dark Descent (although not really a shooter, this game is amazing) Crysis 2, and Bioshock are good picks as well.

Yeah, I'm a little dated. Sorry bout that.
