Just get Mass Effect 2.

Yeah, I know its third person. Yeah, I know you spend about as much time talking as you do shooting stuff. But im about halfway through, and let me tell you that the dialogue, just like the story, is absolutely sublime up till now. I cant believe I didnt pick this game up earlier, although that was due to the steaming pile of shit Mass Effect 1 turned out to be (although im actually glad I only just got it because now I wont have to spend 2 years craving the third part, yay!).

So *ahem* yeah, enough of the rambling.
well ME2 is "technically" an RPG (god dont get the hardcore crowd raging about that one) so talking is to be expectied (and one of the best parts of the game) but it is awsome

Its good though that you played ME1 (even if you didnt like it all that much)as it really just doesnt feel right playing ME2 without it

as for ME1 I while I enjoyed it at the time I didnt think much of it, probably because of all the technical issues (and starting a new game 5 times in a row the first time because shepard did look right) but now I can see how awsome it is and have had fun replaying, though its nowhere near as polished as ME2...yeah ME2 was a hige imporvment

just out of curiosity did you play as male shepard? if you ever get around to replaying ME1 or even 2 you could try playing as female shepard as people generally think her VA is waaaay better (male shep does tend to be a little bland)could improve the experience, but thats just my preference

If you haven't played them, the FEAR expansions are definitely worth a look. You have most of the great games on there already unfortunately.

Farcry 2 definitely, huge, epic, awesome, beautiful. Seriously it's my favorite FPS, it's so flexible, huge in length and playing with fire is one of the funnest things ever.
I bought that for 5 bucks a few years back but have never really played it. Maybe I should. I've been looking for a new game to play and forgot I had that.

thanks :p

Hi everyone. How are you? Long time no see. Glad you're doing better.

Anyway :p

I really do not care about multiplayer. I like the solo experience in a FPS game, but nowadays it's mostly crap. (giving you a list of what i've already tried and loved) I've played Half Life, Portal, Fear, Halo, Call of duty, Battlefield bad company, Singularity, Bioshock, System shock, Deus Ex, Metro 2033, Stalker (did not really like it).

Can you guys suggest good solo fps? A requirement would be it's longer than 6 hours -_- I hate short campaigns (except if it's really good). Oh and it has to be on the PC, hopefully on steam.

Thanks!
its pretty clear that this is an annoying trend thats effecting the FPS genre

since that alot of suggestions arnt really FPS's, but more games that involve shooting

my point is I really realy hope this will change (aparantly Crysis 2 has good single player, bulletstorm is a little short but fun...)I think with Duke nukem and Half lif3 things might change

If you haven't played it yet Bad Company 2. And the Goldeneye remake is pretty good.

I see you tried Halo, but just to make sure... have you played ODST?

To me, at least, it's the best one. My favorite music of all time, not just video game related, and the atmosphere is amazing if you really get yourself into it.

EDIT: Ah, just noticed, PC only. You seem covered in that regard, really.

But hell, I'll still recommend ODST. Seriously. It's amazing. Find a friend who has it and mooch off of his XBox. It's what I did until I got my own :p

Ignore this guy, just get the first Far Cry if you liked Crysis. Far Cry 2 sucks ass. Big time. It is huge and filled with nothing, the only thing epic is the engine, awesome only in the way that the retarded decisions the devs made will awe you and... Ok, maybe it is damn beautiful. But thats just about it and no way in hell does in justify the price tag.

Yeah, I will stop spamming the thread now.
Yeah no, I second this guy. Far Cry 2 is pretty.....aaand that's it. It has no substance. No interesting game mechanic("realistic Fire" is a cool novelty that will entertain you for 10 seconds). nothing. It's just.....pretty. If you want that. Might as well just get Crysis. Atleast you'll get some Stealth/Parkour gameplay out of it.

OT: Uhhh.....People are gonna flame me for this. But.....I didn't actually think Medal of Honor(2010) was that bad. If it's cheap you might wanna consider, thinking about picking that up....maybe? [flame shield]

Well this game is (justifiably) renowned for it's fire physics so just remember one thing: Flare gun.

I know you said you didn't like Stalker, but did you use mods with it? Stalker is near unplayable without them, in my opinion. There are mods that change combat, change the amount of weight you can carry, change the graphics. You think of it, they've got something for it.
My favorite so far is Stalker Complete, which just changes graphics and fixes a ton of bugs. But you can use a lot of these mods with each other to make the game to your liking.

Here's a link to Stalker Complete Mods: http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009

Here's a link to a mod database: http://stalker.filefront.com/files/Stalker/Shadow_of_Chernobyl/Mods;10529

Also, try Republic Commando. It's really cool whether you're a Star Wars fan or not, and it's probably the best squad-based shooter I've ever played.

Black is a pretty good fps for PS2. So is Killzone. And if you got a PS3, then Killzone 2 is pretty awesome. It's third person but Red Faction: Guerrilla is pretty amazing as well. Crysis 2 is also pretty good.

I think that what you are looking for my friend is Fallout 3. It's on steam for 30 bucks with all five expansion packs
It may not be completely centered about shooting, but it is such a great game with a good story. atleast 30 hours of gameplay. I say atleast, because with all DLC and numerous side quests and hundreds of mods from community (guns, quests, armor and many more) sites as Nexus, you can easily make it last 60 to 100's of hours

Despite its mulitplayer focus, L4D can be fun if you just go solo. It really does make you feel like your the last people on earth.

I was going to go with Deus Ex but that got ninjed (ninjad? ninjd?) so I'll go with the original Crysis. The second one is good but I preferred the first.
Agreed, btw hello mysterious person I certainly do not know in the real world.

Bulletstorm's damn good while it lasts, It took me about 10 hours to play through but some people can do it in less than six apparently. However it is GFWL sadly and it's general consensus that GFWL sucks ass.

For mindless shooting fun the original Painkiller (sequels weren't that good) and if you don't mind a bit more tactical approach then Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 and maybe Rainbow Six Vegas are good too.

Too lazy to read the whole thing but if not already mentioned Painkiller, Max Payne 1&2, and then if you want the Super Meat Boy of FPS games try Sniper Elite.

All on Steam BTW
