S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Bioshock. (Only the 1st one, second's a bunch of ballocks)
Or the Half-Life series.
Great single-player shooters.

Or, If you're more of a RPG kinda' person:

MorroWind/Oblivion/Anything in the Elder Scrolls series.
Fallout 3-NV (1 and 2 are strategic RPGs, not FPS. Still worth checking out)

That kinda' stuff.

If you're looking for a good, single-player FPS, avoid C.o.D, BC, or any other modern/multi-player focused shooter.

Okay first of all THANK YOU SO MUCH for all of your answers! Seriously this forum, is awesome, thank you.

Now I forgot to say that I did already play Fallout 3, L4D, Portal 2, Far Cry 1, FEAR 2, so I'm sorry about that; nevertheless you guys sold me on some games that kept coming up:

Condemned
Borderlands (looks more intended to not be played solo :|
Bulletstorm
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Painkiller
Prey
Crysis 2 (when it gets cheaper)
Area 51 (hey it's free)

So I'll get started on those. Keep em coming tho if somehow you still know more!

Not a 100% pure shooter, but the Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii is around 45-60 hours for a pretty cheap price now. Highly reccomend this.

Bulletstorm is nice choice. A bit short but its climax, while ending on a sequel hook, was very much worth the price of admission in my book.

And if you're willing to wait a few weeks, Duke Nukem Forever is to have a 15-17 hour campaign. Something to consider.

Star Wars Jedi knight: Dark Forces 2.

It's a little dated but seriously... you will love this game. Probs one of the best single player campaigns in a game ever. Plus live action cutscenes!
This.

Bloody brilliant game!

Go S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of chernobyl, you cant go wrong.

Dont do clear sky or pripyat yet though, because they are way more unforgiving then chernobyl

Farcry 2 definitely, huge, epic, awesome, beautiful. Seriously it's my favorite FPS, it's so flexible, huge in length and playing with fire is one of the funnest things ever.
I loved FC2 as well, though it seemed to receive a lot of hate :S

if you can tolerate totally outdated graphics (though they dont give you eye-cancer, imho), go get swat 3 (yes, 3, not 4, 4 sucked), the first ghost recon + addons (not this advanced warfighter bullcrap) or rainbow six-es before Vegas (although both vegas-es are very fun, don't get me wrong ^^ the older rianbows were more tactical and about planning before the mission started, the vegas-es are more shooteresque. still, play them all.)
awesomenestest tactical police sim-shooter game i ever played... many many times
damn, they don't make them like this anymore...

if you also consider TPS, go play Max Payne (even though the first is far superior, the second is still hella fun)

oh and serious sam, first and second encounter hd (graphically updated re-releases, some time ago; get 'em on steam)... double your gun, double your fun! ...waaaaaaaAAAAAAAAHH!!! *kaboom*

now if you'll excuse me, there are some games i have to play... again ^^

Get Brink, I need more people to roll with that focus on team objectives than personal glory.

Now if you truly hate multiplayer emm, now excluding what you already liked I'd say Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, Arma 2, some others that have been said already.

STALKER SOC, game of the millennium hands down.

Play it on the hardest difficulty. Make sure you don't have any distractions, and make sure to either have a loud stereo or good headphones and play it mostly in the dark.

The underground zones are all pee your pants scary.

Play vanilla until you get to the Bar. Then if you are REALLY into the game download the Oblivion Lost mod. It adds back a ton of features that didn't make it into the release like more mutants, blowouts, and vehicles.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare. Not the second one. Very good single player, has a bit of a nonsensical ending but has some very memorable segments, wont afford you a second playthrough but once through will be plenty.
