Hm FarCry 2 forgot about that. I liked the first one. Adding it to my list. Anything else?

Also Mass Effect like you said is not an FPS but it is on my to do list of games to play this summer. But I did not play the first one and I feel like I should to get the story. And I don't really want to..
Do it. The shooting mechanics of the first game are really RPG (as in, you suck until you get better guns and put points into weapon skills), but the story is worth it, especially when you can import your save into Mass Effect 2. Although if you really don't want to, you can download the Save Editor from somewhere on the internet so you can at least.

<link=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/shogo_mobile_armor_division>Shogo:Mobile Armor Division. You've either played everything else I would recommend, or it's already been mentioned, but Shogo is great. It came out slightly before Half Life, did a lot of the things that Half Life became famous for first, but got pushed aside by gaming history because everyone was so hyped for Half Life at the time that very few people bought it. Note that it didn't do everything that Half Life did, though; it definitely doesn't feel like a clone, either of Half Life or anything else. The multiplayer was some of the best and most frantic I've ever played, but the Devs spent most of their time on singleplayer, and it shows. It's from the same people who made F.E.A.R., but it's decidedly more old school than that game; give it a shot, you should like it.

There's a distressing amount of people in this thread who seem to be unclear on exactly what "fps" mean.

Have you played the newest CoD, Black Ops? (I coulnd't read this from op)
I found the single player quite amazing.
^this person has never played a decent FPS.

EDIT: I did enjoy CoD multiplayer, but the Black Ops campaign was miserable.

Farcry 2 definitely, huge, epic, awesome, beautiful. Seriously it's my favorite FPS, it's so flexible, huge in length and playing with fire is one of the funnest things ever.
Ignore this guy, just get the first Far Cry if you liked Crysis. Far Cry 2 sucks ass. Big time. It is huge and filled with nothing, the only thing epic is the engine, awesome only in the way that the retarded decisions the devs made will awe you and... Ok, maybe it is damn beautiful.
Ignore this guy, since not only does graphics mean almost nothing next to the decent gameplay you sound like you're seeking, but also despite FC2's foibles it is a really engaging experience. I'd say it's probably the best 1st person sandbox around. Far Cry 1 is alright up until the mutants show up halfway through, then it just gets stupid.

As for other PC decent solo FPS exclusives that are longer than 6 hours...

Well there's minecraft, I suppose, but there's also some gems like Left 4 Dead (admittedly better with friends), Operation Flashpoint (the one and only mil-sim everyone should play. The first one, not the silly Dragon Rising) which has a massive campaign, Mount and Blade Warband if you want a really good Medieval FPS without all that magic and fantasy baloney, and a real quirky choice- Unreal Tournament 2004: sure the singleplayer is a succession of bot matches ranking up like a sports ladder, but the sheer variety on offer is amazing and the AI is so finely tuned that you never have a match play the same way twice. The campaign itself is long enough, but it's probably got more replay value then all the above games combined.

Crysis, ArmA series, Doom/Quake (both are relatively short but there are downloadable missions if you want more), Descent 1 & 2, No One Lives Forever

Any of the STALKER games?

And in that vein, Metro 2033 :3

Also maybe System Shock/Bioshock?

Edit: Fallout 3/New Vegas is also worth a shot... it's not really focused on the gunplay (especially with VATS) but it's one of my favourite games ever just because of the enormity of it.
I've had Fallout New Vegas for some time now and have gone through the game once. (haven't been everywhere though) and I love the game. Trying to get through Dead Money now. Ive been told that Fallout 3 is better then New Vegas. Any thought on this??

Call of Juarez BnB was pretty good, I thought. One of the best stories in an FPS i've seen in quite awhile. plus, people DIE when you shoot them, none of this pouring three clips of assault rifle ammo into a target before he decides fall over...

One of the old James Bond games.
Ehh...I wouldn't go for the PC versions. Especially not Nightfire. I have it on both PC and Xbox, the Xbox one is 100 times better. Really fun game.

Well good sir, I'd say it's unlikely that I've never played a single FPS you would consider decent.

While I understand that CoD:BO is quite a controversial suggestion, I still have to say, in my humble opinion, it offers the best single player experience of the CoD games I've played (4, WaW, MW 2, BO).

I loved FC2 as well, though it seemed to receive a lot of hate :S
I couldn't find a fault in it so I'm putting it down to sequel syndrome:
Too different from the original so the fans get entitled and annoying.

Of course, if it was the same....

I actually found farcry 2 to be extremely boring. I quit after 20 hours and was nowhere near out of new things to shoot though, so if you want a long game...

also the steam version doesn't seem to get along very well with my ATI graphics chipset.

To be fair, I habitually buy the Dynasty Warriors games so repetition isn't that big a problem for me. But yeah, it is repetitive, but I liked to approach each situation differently (flaregunflaregun) so I didn't really notice.

Halo: Reach has a pretty good story campaign.
Yeah, because Halo: Reach is totally on the Pc....

Next time, read the OP....
He's still contributed to the thread 10 as much as you.

If you only come to whine, go somewhere else.

OT: Stalker series as has been suggested, and if you like WW2 it doesn't get better than the original Call of Duties, and Brothers in Arms.

Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 is good, although better on Co-op.
