Super Smash Bros. Creator Confirms E3 Appearance

[tweet t=https://twitter.com/Sora_Sakurai/status/342612212621398016]
Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed that footage of the new Super Smash Bros. title will be shown at E3.

Nintendo fans will no doubt be pleased to hear that the new Super Smash Bros. game will in fact make its debut next week at E3. The appearance has been confirmed by Sakurai, who tweeted earlier today, "Notice: On the June 11th 11PM Nintendo Direct, the first footage of the new Smash Bros will be aired for the first time. For the first time, simultaneously worldwide! Don't miss it."

A few minutes later, he (almost) confirmed that he too will be at the show, tweeting, "I'll probably be in the U.S.A. [when the trailer is shown]. Off to E3."

Nintendo actually confirmed that a Super Smash Bros. game would be made for the 3DS and Wii U back at E3 2011, although work apparently didn't begin until mid-2012. The game is being developed by Sakurai's Sora Ltd. and Namco Bandai.

Sakurai's tweet presumably refers to 11 pm JST (Japanese Standard Time), which translates to 10 am EDT - the start time of Nintendo's E3 presser. For those who haven't been watching the calendar, this year's E3 runs from June 11 to 13.

Love me some Smash Bros.

Hopefully the online multiplayer portion will have more longevity than it's Wii counterpart.

By that I assume you mean the online multiplayer will be fully functional rather than dodgy as hell?

Yet to play a Wii U game online so I can't comment on it yet, MOnster Hunter 3U should be here soonish though...

Please tell me I'm not the only one who went "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" when I saw the tweet.

Well, nice to see that Nintendo is working on pumping up the Wii U library.

Well it'll be the first time Smash Bros will be able to get patches and DLC (hopefully it's free, or at least really cheap).

OT: Can't wait to see what new characters they have up their sleeves. Will they be able to top Snake? Maybe with Travis Touchdown, Mega Man or Bayonetta.

I curious about that too, but what can I say I love me some Smash Brothers. I hope it's more like how Melee was because I find that Melee was way better than Brawl.

Okay, so my first though is, gee Nintendo are making a Super Smash Bro.s for their new console, didn't see that coming.

...but on the other hand this is a better controller than the last one, so it's probably going to produce a really kickass game. It's a shame you can't have four touchpad controllers, that limits what you can do with control schemes for a balanced symmetric game and I guess it'll be back to gamecube controllers again, but at least everyone will have proper thumbsticks for their single player

Has the 'quote' in the OP glitched out for anyone else or is it just me?

I also prefer melee to brawl tbh...

I'm curious to see how the 3DS version is going to communicate with the Wii U version...

So Nintendo won E3 without having a big conference.
At least for me.

Hypemeter is trough the roof.

I can't wait to see it. Seeing the Brawl Teaser made me really excited for the game. So let's see what surprises there are for Smash U.

Put down your flame shield and let me give you a hug. Melee was superior to Brawl in almost every way. If I could get Super Smash Bros. Melee all the stages and adding most of the Brawl stages I would never need another game. Brawl had some cool stages, but overall it just wasn't as good.

It would be cool if the 3DS and Wii U version connect the same way that Monster Hunter does.

No need for those, from what I have seen lurking around, people tend to agree with you on this one. Or, you know, not care.

I played Melee for years with dozens of people.

Brawl hit the shelf and was never mentioned again within a month.

I >wanted< to like Brawl so much but...I just couldn't.

So many mistakes made and all avoidable :/.
