When it comes to a Smash Bros style game, there's only one character I want to play as: Wander from Shadow of the Colossus. Not only is he truly the greatest hero in the history of gaming, he simply cannot be knocked off stuff. Try to knock him off the stage. I dare you.

Gantz is one of the most awesomest rivals in the Klonoa series! And he likes to use guns! A lot! He battled against Klonoa in the Dream Champ Tournament, so you betta believe he can bring some moves to the table.
Normal Attack: Gantz swings the butt of his rifle about, interspersed with a brawling punch.
Special-Side: Ride of the Red Clan: Gantz hops onto his bike and zooms across the stage, smashing into any opponents along the way.
Special-Down: Rain of Fire: He pulls out his magnificent rocket launcher and unleashes a barrage of ordnance around his body.
Special-Up: Shinigami's Fire: After leaping in the air, Gantz fires rapidly below him, indiscriminately setting targets aflame.
Special-Neutral: Doubleshot: Gantz pulls out his twin pistols and quickly fires in both directions.
Final Smash: Shinigami Rush: Pulling out all the stops, and guns, Gantz rushes about, blasting away at any unfortunate fighters that aren't bulletproof with every pistol, rocket launcher, and rifle he has.

How about the Kid from Bastion? With all the weapons at his disposal his attack possibilities are endless.
Since it's anyone fighting-capable, and I just finished watching Hunter x Hunter, I think I'll go with Killua Zoldyck.

It was almost too late when Sakurai and Miyamoto found out.

Sweat runs down Sakurai's face as he frantically taps on the keyboard, trying to work out a way in. "Nothing's responding! All I can get is the trophy room, but everyone's been deleted!" He suddenly gasps, and Miyamoto looks over his shoulder to see why.
[RECOLLECT TROPHIES?]
Images flash across the screen, but none of them seem like characters that Miyamoto had designed, or that Sakurai had known of before. "The Board is going to kill us if they find out what we're doing," Sakurai says, apprehensive.
With a solid hand on the younger man's shoulder, Miyamoto replies, "But if we don't do it, then everything we've worked for will be destroyed. If we do this, then there might still be a chance."
His resolve steeled, Sakurai presses the 'enter' key on the keyboard.

The screen gives out at that moment, blinking into nothingness. "Is it still running?" Sakurai asks, his panic still evident.
