Because it's not Starcraft. There, I said it. Yes I'm not entirely happy with the changes being made in SupCom 2, but it's a lot better than shelling out $90+ to get the full story of a game in Starcraft II
I can't believe people are still using this stupid ass talking point.

How much did you have to pay for the full story of Warcraft 3? Was it the original and then the expansion?
What about Starcraft 1? Original and Broodwar, yeah?
What about any RTS in the history of ever?

They're just being rather more upfront about their expansion plans this time.

I liked the demo for SupCom2, sure its different but it seemed to work and was fun to play, I could cue buildings if I had resources (not hard) and the designs are better imo then in SupCom 1, however the colours suck so hope you can change them ingame or something.

It doesnt replace SupCom 1 but suppliments it, however I do like the new GUI over the older one.

I just finished the "Demo" (I refuse to acknowledge that it is affiliated with SupCom in any way) and I feel as if I should call the police because I have been violated in such a way that there must be a law against it. It was just so utterly horrible, I can't even put it into words. I somehow managed to force myself to play through the whole thing, thinking that it may get better, it did not. Ok, random mindless rant over, now on to specific thoughtful rant...

1) The over-simplification. I loved the original SupCom because it was so complex. So what it not everyone else could grasp it? No offense, but if you didn't get it, you had 9000 other kindergarten level RTSs you could go play, now I'm stuck with "baby's first RTS" because you QQed about it confusing you? Tough shit!

2) The visual element. Did the miss the LEGO logo before the title? Everything looks like they handed a 5 year old a box of crayons and said "Here ya go, make a unit little guy!" I liked the graphics of the first one, everything was very detailed and had its own unique style. Now everything is just a box with a bunch of smaller boxes that are supposed to be guns shoved on it with the most horrid paint job imaginable. I understand that you had to scale it back a bit because so many people were having lag problems, but come on, the original C+C for windows 95 looked better than this POS.

3) The characters. Everyone seems to be the same stupid bad-guy cardboard cut-out copied and pasted enough times to get enough characters. SupCom characters had depth and personallity, and were unique. When Dostya said something, it would be something that only Dostya would say because it fit her personality. Now its just generic.

4) Unit upgrading. I perfer the I,II,III,Exp formula much better. When I upgrade a tank, I want a newer, cooler, generally more bad-ass tank. I don't what the same old starter tank that Ive had only with another cannon super-glued onto it. Not to mention the strategic element of sending a group of II units to make you opponent think your not at III yet.

I could go on for about ever, but I gotta go play SupCom: FA to wash the stain from my monitor.
